I believe there will be a resource shortage. Of course, by that time we may have discovered resources on another planet. Which would mean we would have discovered life. That could start a war, and who knows what could happen.
@snipershot325 The planet Earth will cease to exist when, before dying, the sun gets bigger and simply engulfs it. But at the time when the sun dies, humans will very likely have gone extinct already for some while, who knows how, maybe your comet will have wiped them out. But a comet won't destroy it, just some of the biodiversity; however, there will always be at least microbes to repopulate the world..
I think that our world, and by that meaning humanity, will either starve itself by eating everything away, or bomb itself to death. The few small remaining populations who will occasionally survive may go on for a while, but won't be stable over long and just vanish due to secondary effects caused by their predecessors
In the year 2036, WW3 will occur. Nuclear bombs will be dropped, killing millions. The people that aren't killed by the blasts will suffer from nuclear poisoning. The bombs will send giant clouds of dust and other small particles into the atmosphere, not allowing any light to reach the surface. The average surface temeperature will then drop to -10 degrees. Plants and animals will die from the extreme temperature change. Humans will be completely gone from the Earth by the year 2038.

Ok, so heres the Earth. That is a sweet place you might say. ROUND? alright, you have the ice caps melting, a meteor is coming straight into us, the ozone layer leaving and the sun exploding. We are definately going to blow ourselves up. So, we have China, France, Israel, India, Pakistan, Russia the U.K. and U.S. with nukes We've got about twenty-six hundred more then anyone else, whatever. So we decide those Chinese sons of a bishes, are going down so we launch a nuke at China. While its on its way China's like 'Sh1t sh1t! Who the f*** is shooting us?' 'Oh well! FIRE MISSLES!' France is like, 'Sh1t guys! the missles are comin'! FIRE OUR SHEET!'... "But I'm, le tired...' 'Well have a nap. ZHEN FIRE ZE MISSLES!' Everyone else starts firing of their sh1t, now we have missles flying everywhere passing each other. Austrailia's like 'WTF mate?' Mars is laughing at us and some huge meteor is like well screw that. So, now we have nuclear winter. Everyone's dead except Austrailia, and they're still like 'WTF mate?'... But they'll be dead soon.
