This is not your typical "VS" thread. Instead of comparing whole movies, we will instead be comparing one type of scene between movies. Each week (or whenever), I will pick a different theme for a scene, as well as several movies that fit said theme. I think that this will be more interesting than the typical movie competition, as it pits scenes that actually have things in common against one another.
Rules/Guidelines:
1) I will try to post videos of the clip in question, but you should only vote if you have seen most of the movies in the contest.
2) Do no base your decision too much on context; the point is to judge the scene as it stands alone. That doesn't mean you have to ignore context completely, however.
3) Explain your choice.
4) You may not suggest movies. That's like voting in advance, which defeats the purpose of this thread. If I run out of ideas, I will just use the internet.
5) I will post a running total of votes every now and then, so you don't have to.
This week's theme is: ON FOOT CHASE SCENES
Your options:
Casino Royale: The scene in the beginning where James Bond chases that guy through the construction yard. Watch.
Raising Arizona: The scene where H.I. steals some diapers from a convience store, and then runs from the cops. To be fair, he isn't on foot for the whole scene. But it's close enough. Watch.
District B13: Where whats-his-name runs away from those gangsters through his apartment. Parkour! Seriously, Parkour!
Being john Malkovich: The chase with Maxine and Lottie through Malkvocich's subconscious at the end of the movie. No clip... sorry.
Close match between Casino Royale and Banlieue 13. However, due to sheer coolness, I have to go for B13. Pretty intense chase scene with some nice music as an addition. The only part of it I found strange was that there was a random super long rope hanging from the apartment building. But the actual chase scene was so cool, that who even cares? :P
Seriously? Minimal explanation is all that is necessary. These don't quite cut it, and therefore don't count as votes. They do, however, count as spam, so congratulations on that number. By all means vote again, but this time explain yourself.
Here, I'll show you how.
My vote goes to "Being John Malkovich." I find this scene to be extremely clever, funny, and exciting because of the highly orginal setting: Malkovich's mind.
There, that's all you need. Just one good reason that specifically relates to the scene. No "It's awesome"s allowed, because that could be said for any one of the scenes.
I'd say B13. I mean the stunts and all that good stuff was intense. Casino Royale's chase was alright, but a tad cliche, since many movies have people climbing tall things and kicking one another.
