Ok so before I begin I would like to say I'm not talking about getting rid of Mods or Admins.
So basically I came up with this idea when I first started playing on AG close to the point of my first few comments that I wrote on some games. Now this could apply to many different aspects of AG and could in fact make the Mods and Admins lives a little easier.
So my idea was this: Instead of having Mods and Admins doing everything then make like a committee that writes really good reviews or the makes more complex contests and differents things along those lines. Now these people would not have the same powers and abilities, but they wouldn't be normal users either. So now this would be a rough idea of what a committee could and could not do. This is what a committee that writes really good reviews would sorta look like if made. Now this is not exactly what it seems. So basically someone like a Mod or Admin could play a part in this process but I will explain later. So if this were to be made then I would suggest that this committe be made out of trustworthy, good review writers, and mabye a Mod. So they would discuss a good review to write and submit. Also the game maker wouldn't have to read so many poor review and spam reviews just to see one fairly good review every page or so because you could put this review under the rating bar. Now hopefully the game maker wouldn't just read that one and make anothr game off of it, but then again it probably wouldn't make it. After the writing of said review then a Mod or Admin could read and approve of this review.
Now the other committe's would kinda be along the same lines but with some changes aswell. Mabye you Mods and Admins could take a look and think about this as something to add to AG 3.0.
AG is based on Monarchy, as are almost all forum sites. The reason for this is because admins have of course, supreme power. They decide the lords of the site, the mods. Anything below that has standard user rights.
So you're suggesting the committee recommends merit worthy stuff and good reviews? Kind of a long process for that.
If mods and admins felt they were overloaded with too many merit-worthy comments and too many good posts, they'd change the system, or complain about it.
Sorry, but I just don't really see the point in your idea. It's a bit unnecessary...
And then the users learn amongst themselves who is higher in standard than other users.
Standard popular opinion.
The idea is sound, except it would be too much of a hassle to go through the various people. Things like this are always changing, and a new judge will come to a major contest usually once a month or so, and some people write a couple reviews and then stop and then write more reviews. It's too unpredictable.
And then the users learn amongst themselves who is higher in standard than other users.
That's class thinking, and is pretty dumb. Me and you have as many rights as Firetail, or the newest user. It does not change unless you become a mod.
some people write a couple reviews and then stop and then write more reviews.
True: A lot of users make merits in their young days, and then simply forum.
The committee is not needed at the moment. If we gained thousands of extra users, and added hundreds of new games, I'd understand, but that's a long way...
