Why... Does IGN rate GoW III with a 9.3/10 and Portal ( the baddest game i know about) got the SAME SCORE !! For true GoW fans like me ... this MAYBE fair because come on.. Kratos whats with all the weapons ? GoW I and II is ok cause of the amount of weapons. in the first game Kratos " Castes himself from the highest mountain in all of Greece" And in GoW III he kills Gaia! he has to much weapons. looks TOO bad ass ! i know it`s weird but. He`s not the old Kratos i used to play in GoW I , II and chains of Olympus. No ... This is Kratos on Steroids!!
A game with breasts and gore deserves an automatic 9/10 imho.
But to be serious the main reasons that could be behind this are, the reviewer doesn't want to lose his/her job and/or being afraid of the nerdrage that would follow for not padding the scores.
Ohhhh kay, I just reread the OP and it seems that i have made an error.
Gears of war is a great game but it doesn't deserve all the praise it gets, it's just a gorefest made to hold the attention of 13 year olds and the immature. And the puzzle/carnage formula the series has come up with isn't bad, but gears of war 3 could have added a bit more to the mix than just the even more explicit death scenes. Sure, the game is great and probably deserves the 9.3 (probably) but it doesn't really add much to the GOW series (well, except for the climax) And yeaaaah, how is portal the worst game you have ever come across? Though i haven't played it personally yet, I think it's grand for such a game to exist. From the reviews I read it deserves the praise it gets (And I dont think valve payed for the reviews, not like they needed to, since it's a game made by valve). Just don't thrash a game from not having enough blood and breasts. (which is the only reason I think you could hate that game)
