Addictions are quite interesting, especially the phycological addictions. For those of you who don't know, phycological addictions are basically the kind of addictions that are not physical whatsoever. They are completely different from drug addictions, which have severe side effects when trying to drop them.

Let's not talk about drugs here, let's talk about things like gambling addictions, video game addictions, computer addictions, exercise addictions, and so on. I personally find gambling addictions facinating, the fact that people throw away their money with a false sense of 'luck'.

This is called a good thread.

The community should learn more about these, since they can start some intelligent disccussions, rather than a string of 5 word posts.

Gambling addictions are fascinating, I agree. But I find that many people only consider it an addiction if they are not in fact any good at the gambling games (poker, black jack, etc.) and end up losing all their money. If they constantly win, well, then they are just good at gambling. :P

Not all psychological are considered to be bad though. The exercise one never really hurts... unless it is extremely over done. How these types of addictions manifest in one's mind, I don't know.

On the subject of gambling addictions it wasn't unsurprising for me to learn that everything about a casino is designed to keep you spending your money, they even pump certain hormones and pheromones through the AC to keep people feeling that rush that keeps them hooked on gambling.

Yeah, just look at this!

And as for the part about the casinos, I had no idea. That's actually almost scary.

An addiction is different from regular excersise, people who excersise just to stay healthy are not addicted to excersise.

yet, people who exercise every freaking day just for the 'rush' are damaging their body.

another addiction comes to mind, ever heard of adreniline junkies?

Yes, those thrill seeking nuts.

I too. It's ridiculously easy to lose your money through gambling.

This is called a good thread.

Gee, right when I thought we actually had a decent-enough topic to talk about I realize that it was written by someone wishing to belittle a community of illiterate 13-year olds.
Please get off, I can appreciate making a decent thread but doing it solely to mock another group of people is just messed up, man. Seriously.

psychological addictions... I don't know enough about the topic to have an actual educated opinion, but I'm experienced with both a computer and a video game addiction. I liked how I could control a person via video game and how I could talk to people when I felt lonely via the computer.

My cousin actually lost almost all of his money from a gambling addiction and he had to live with us for about a year until he got back on his feet.

Why would you be so defensive about it if you believed it were entirely false? Things must be different in Italy, if you're right though, because it HAS happened here.

There is a drug that gives you an adreniline rush, but even inhaling somthing like that wouldn't be enough to keep you at a table if you don't have an addictive attitude.
