Well, you CAN eat them.
But you run the risk of gaining any diseases the fish carried, and fish tend to have stronger immune systems so they may be carrying non-lethal diseases to them while they may be lethal toward us.
So you CAN, it just isn't advised for your health.

I personally have carried (With my teeth) a raw fish in my mouth, for a 20. xD

Yes you can. Only thing is.. do you want parasites or other diseases?

The best choice is to just cook it and avoid any risk that are gonna be taken. If you want to go and eat it raw, try and wash it as much as possible at least, and also know what your doing Lol..

Ben even when they make sushi, they thorough clean it and then use various things to make sickness go away.
Especially frozen sushi, that's processed "raw" meat.

It all depends on WHERE you're going to go fishing.
If you're going to a mountain lake it's not probable the fish is diseased.
And the real question is: why you should eat raw fish? Can you not build a fire?

You can. Some fish are known for having parasites and all that though. Or diseases.

So I'd always cook/bake 'em first. If I ever were to eat fish.

I understand the enjoying life thing. o.o
But what kind of amazing experiences/talents/memorys/whatever do you think you will gain asides from possible sickness?

Well of course you can eat fish raw but the question is should you risk the horrible disesases some fish get from the stuff we dump in the rivers and lakes. One river by me is so polluted you can only eat one fish from the river every month and they have been dredging it for years. Probably better to cook it.

CommanderDude, even if you cook a fish that has been in polluted water. The entire fish's body has also been polluted due to the long expoure. So eating a fish from a polluted river is never "safe".

Well yeah, haven't you ever heard of sushi?
Haha, I don't advise that you eat a raw fish because of all the diseases and other things they can carry.

his question is phrased wrong. he means can you eat a fish that you have caught from a pond. personally you can eat anything raw b/c your stomach will kill it. but soemtimes parasites will survive the HCl bath in the stomach and that might be good. I mean if you know the water is a little nasty. not really a good idea because even raw fish is prepared a little so it is deemed edible. but it generally not a good idea to eat raw fish you caught from a pond or stream.

Shadownekoangel why do you think I said once a month? Only once a month and the PCB levels in the fish aren't enough to kill you.

Maybe you should bet that you can drink a tin of led-based paint!
