I've been thinking about this for a long time.
What if we lived in a world where currency wasn't an issue, food was always abundant, housing always there, and the world united. A perfect world per-say, like the one i would see in star trek or one close to it.
There would be many challenges like...
#1 how to keep self motivation so that people keep working
#2 how to create a leadership where no one was to powerful, but yet still have a strong rule over the world
#3 how to keep it friendly and still let people voice their negative ideas
Do you think this is a plausible idea and how would you tweak it so that it would work?

You know I got to post on this.

#1 how to keep self motivation so that people keep working

In the Star Trek world the motivation is for self betterment which in turn allows the person to be more productive in return. Also keep in mind even in Star Trek itself while currency wasn't the prime motivator it still existed.

Since we wouldn't really have to worry about money we would be freer to pursue and accomplish our dreams. To stave off boredom may be a motivator for more exploration, with exploration then becoming the motivator in turn. In a way information and news could become a sort of currency in itself.

#2 how to create a leadership where no one was to powerful, but yet still have a strong rule over the world

This one is quite difficult, power would likely have to be spread out and with power would have to be changed often. Perhaps a process of checking credentials, so we just have the most competent people applying. Then a voting system, perhaps both an electoral vote to further weed candidate out then the final vote could be left to the people. Party systems I think would have to be eliminated leaving each candidate to have to get in on there own merits alone.

This unfortunately still leaves room for corruption, I unfortunately don't know how to fix this problem fully.

#3 how to keep it friendly and still let people voice their negative ideas

First off the government shouldn't regulate morality. Basically a Wiccan concept on this one of, do what you want, so long as you don't hurt anyone. In some cases this would still leave some conflict on how exactly to define this aspects though.
Anyway out of all the things I think America gets wrong freedom of speech is something that should be held up for everyone, even more so then it is today in America.

Do you think this is a plausible idea and how would you tweak it so that it would work?

Right now, no I don't think it is. As ideal as a Star Trek like utopia is, I think it would require a fundamental change in human nature.

I like this idea but i prefer the world that is ruled by the lord sith and his evil knight darth vador.

The thing about Star Trek is that the goal in life is to not make a profit but to better yourself in the future. Therefore, it's quite a communistic belief if something like the Borg or rebel Romulians didn't add a plot twist.

Yes but it also has a lot of undertones of democracy mixed in. Besides if resources were not a problem a communistic like approach could possibly work.

At this point in time, I don't believe that the idea is realistic. As much as I wish that it was, it would require humanity to completely change the way we do things. I do not think that we would be able to "create a leadership where no one was to powerful, but yet still have a strong rule over the world". Some group of people who disagree with the government and start an uprising, or something like that. The self-motivation part would be to improve, as stated above. This would appeal to a select number of people, but not everyone. In the future though, I think that such a dream will be possible.

It will not happen until we are able to travel faster than light. The scientists could watch my ex-wife to see how she can take money and spend it so fast that she must be traveling at the speed of light.
