Nearly every night. This nightmare comes. And it haunts me.

It's scary. I see creepy things looking into my window in this nightmare. Like ET, this wried lady from an American kids show named Courage the Cowardly Dog or something and a witch from a game I had when I was a kid. I even saw my dead father with a mutated head with a baby with the same face as my dad.
I'm scared shitless. I'm scared to go to sleep. Please help. Any dream-professionals? What does this mean?

Honestly I would recommend a few sessions of psychotherapy, preferably with a psychiatrist, not a psychologist.

Typically nightmares are assumed to indicate issues from your subconscious jumping into conscious thought. These are usually issues which your mind either consciously or subconsciously does not want to address, and are often repressed memories or emotions.

The fact that you are having the same dream frequently suggests that there is a serious issue your mind is having trouble deciphering and usually mild therapy will allow you to address the issue.

Prior to your first appointment with your psychiatrist I would recommend keeping a dream journal and whenever you have this particular dream you write down what details you can remember, along with how you were feeling before you went to sleep, during the dream, and after you wake up.

I keep on forgetting.

Psychiatry is your best bet. MRWalker's correct, I have to say. I hear the dream journals are excellent ways to decipher the meaning of your dreams.

Well, there's nothing I have against that so go ahead.

Oh, you already did that.

It means that courage the cowardly dog is gonna eat you! Here's a tip: GO TO SLEEP EARLIER. Also, no scary movies. Any drinks that have sugar in them give you nightmares, and keep you up later. My rule is no soft drinks after 7:00. Pizza does the same thing late at night. Also, what you should maybe do is put a nightlight in or something like that. Just some tips. I hope that helped.
Thank you for the great tips, it's just that I don't drink any soft drinks, or eat pizza, or watch scary movies... Etc.

But I'll try to go to sleep earlier. Thanks.

Be tired!
It's the safest way to get some dreamless sleep. You'll be so tired that your brain won't remember your dreams.
Also, 22 hours of sleep in 4 days. The Ts are now my ally on the war VS the Zs.

stress can cause many things including your dreams. I also do believe that dreams do mean something for certain . like only certain people can have dreams and then make them into something. its not really the dream though... I have found that (or maybe i should just say noticed) only people can make something happen, but the dreams have been repeated so much that they do take an affect on your own life because its sorta like how you are forced to believe something. someone (or you) tells you something over and over and you believe it. well dreams are like that too. they are dreamt over and over and eventually (if your dream is possible) you will live your dream. that is only for some people though... so that is how dreams can mean something. too much stress can make a dream of you in a bathroom looking in the mirror and your teeth fall out. so the dreams you are having can be anything from stress, to other emotional problems.

You cannot stake awake forever, and if you REALLY don't want to have that dream anymore, you have to do two things.

First, go to sleep confident that you are going to have that dream. Then you will have it. Do not be afraid. That is just going to make it worse. Remember it is only your imagination hard at work.

Second, try to remember in your dream that you are just in a dream and that you control it. Do what ever you want. Find that sword in your basement (even if you don't have one) and slay the beasts if that makes you happy. Turn the good dream into a bad dream.

Bottom line is that you can control your dream. Be confident you will be okay when falling asleep and remember that it is only a dream and you can control it whenever you want.

When I have a bad nightmare [and it won't happen too often (3 hours of sleep today)] I force myself awake. I'll explain better: when weird stuff start to happen, all you have to do is rationalize, and say to yourself: "This cannot be! This is a dream." and open your eyes.
The downside of this, is when something absurd really happens IRL and you try to wake up...

Try you using Karmah to your advantage maybe putting some good out will let you sleep better.

If that doesn't work think of this you control the dreams really you have to tell your mind who's in charge and make the dream to what you want it to be.

I undestand I had this one dream were I raced some guy and I won every time and the guy would pull a gun on me and would shoot me. So every night for 2 months I woke up at 1:00 am then I beat like you would beat Freddy I wasn't afraid and I went to sleep with a gun under my pillow and shot him.

But this wont help you so when you have it just say outloud "Im not afraid it's just a dream!" if that dosen't work then go see a psychologist right away
