the idea is ridiculous that plants would do all that.
Although I found the movie incredibly nauseating and boring, it is an interesting concept, and fun to consider. If, for the sake of argument, we create a situation wherein humans are destroying the ecosystem at such a rapid rate that it must evolve powerful defense mechanisms to ensure it's survival it truly could be a plausible chain of events.
