your opinions on stem cell research, when you know that it is mainly funded through aborted fetuses from abortion clinics. these fetuses carry stem cells which can basically mimic and become the cells surrounding it. effectively acting like a bandage but this bandage integrates into the human body.

Stem cell research will be a AMAZING advantage to the medical and scientific community. Limbs and organs could be regenerated allowing for amputees to have new arms, organs to be gotten without donors, and may even pave the way into cloning technologies.

exactly. which is why I do not understand why christians gotta be all up in stem cell's grill about how it kills babies and stuff. Then some christians say oh, hello, whats this you can get stem cells from umbilical cords. yes, you can. BUT adult stem cells are very different from embryonic stem cells. which is why there is a need for aborted fetuses. and once again christians ruined it. for everyone

Stem cells are, from the best of my knowledge, taken from the blastula stage of an embryo, which is a fertilized ovum having barely undergone any mitosis, so I wouldn't really call it a fetus.

Besides, scientists can take skin cells and revert them into stem cells now, so there's really no need for a religious argument to stem cell research anymore.

sorry I was putting it in christian lingo. they believe sperm + egg = fetus/baby whatever.

yes but that is back in 2005. during the bush administration. do you know how hard it is mint your own embryonic stem cells? no you don. obviously not, you dont have a degree or have done the research.

let me tell you: it's difficult. and currently 99% of embryonic stem cells are harvested from embryos.

also these "stem cells" are used in conjunction with adult stem cells. because they are mainly used to treat burn victims. ect. NOT regrow limbs/tissue like how embryonic stem cells are proposed to do.

I'm all for stem cell research. The cells are taken mainly from embryos (opposed to the stereotype) and so I see no negatives and a lot of positives.

Stem cell research does NOT kill babies. This misconception arose because many abortion clinics donate their "Embryonic Stem Cells" (which necessitates the death of the embryo) to research. Hence people were given the misconception that researchers are killing babies to perform studies.

This is ridiculous zealot propaganda. These cells are harvested from embryos which are about to die naturally (pre-miscarriage) or during an already scheduled abortion. Therefore if anything, the scientific usage of stem cells is in the process of attempting to give a use to what was already either way going to be a dead embryo.

exactly, i agree.

but the problem is to get embryos you need sex, and then you need to vacuum the embryo from the woman (possibly within the first trimester aka 9 weeks) and that is basically abortion. and then you'll have all the christians parading around going OMG yew kill babies.

Although if Christians understood the number of embryos that the body naturally miscarried/aborted/rejected without outside help then they might not be so quick to scream about Abortion.

I know

but the problem is that they don't know. Many of them are sheep who just follow a shepherd. basically brainwashing at it's best.

Stem cells could give those crippled veterans who fought for our freedom another chance at walking or something. yet some people can't understand that abortion clinics dont keep aborted fetuses/embryos in jars for lols. they store em and send them to stem cell research clinics.

You don't need to kill the fetus to obtain the stem cells, so there is no argument.

he's talking about embryonic stem cells.
for which I support. I just dont support the way you are trolling.

Embryonic stem cells from embryos and zygotes are really the biggest and mot readily available source, but as technology for dedifferentiation(which can produce embryonic stem cells)develops, it'll become obsolete. It's a very promising field of science, and it needs to have money thrown at it. MOAR.

Hey, I just thought of a great way to solve the issues here. We fund cloning so that we can produce viable human embryos, then we can harvest them for stem cells to continue research. I'm sure the 'moral majority' will love it

i strongly support stem cell research. it is simply using something that would otherwise probably be thrown away and using it for the good of science and humanity.
