If only this thread was around a year ago when I first got my radio license...
All that I can really say about this is that if radio manufacturers specifically tell you to keep an HT's antenna away from your head, there must be at least some merit to the idea that radio waves can affect living cells differently than simple RF burns.
I'm not sure, however if the radiofrequency energy that cell phones put out is actually powerful enough to cause any damage or change cells enough to result in brain cancer.
The Government says that there's no consistent link between cellphones and cancer, other than inconclusive results of phone addicts having slightly increased risk, though.
Many major studies show no link between mobile phones and cancer. But this information is based on short term studies, so we do not know the impact of several years exposure.
Maybe they could... but the waves would have to have an almost constant exposure to your brain. That's why it's only thought that people addicted to talking on a cellphone have a slightly increased risk.
well I mean I have no idea what is going on in cell phones or what kind of uranium chips they are using. but this is a little concerning since almost everyone in the US has a cellphone, maybe less like 70%. and that means everyone is gonna get cancer??
They don't directly cause cancer. The waves that they output aren't high enough energy to punch a hole in your DNA, otherwise they wouldn't be being sold. They release at the highest infrared, but they prefer much lower FM signals for long distance. That and they don't make your face feel like it wants to light on fire. Every frequency above infrared either gives off light or heat, or both. It's a different heat, though, not the from-the-fire heat, but the make-your-water-molecules-jump-around heat. Painful at best, but in low end, non-microwave oven power their harmless.
