[b]Ive been wondering...what if AG could have a instant chat like Addictinggames? I think its a good idea,to have comments+tips consantly updated.And...have a bigger data base of comments+tips.Would be helpfull 4 all of us.
Chat rooms are too much of a burden for moderators and administrators. They need to be constantly watched and monitored, and the mods and admins on this site have day jobs. Because they are so hard to handle, it's not worth it. (Which, of course, leads to the point of using instant messenger programs.)
People need to be told too often that spam is annoying. Where one person finds it amusing and laughable to annoy someone by typing the word 'enguin' twenty-five times, the mods and admins have a very different perspective. Yes, chat rooms could be fun and it would help with the bonding aspect of your mates on AG, but AIM and Y!IM have chat room features as well.
No need to fret! The mods and admins simply do not have the time to take care of it. At any rate, it would require more mods to sit and mind the chat when they're liking wishing they were able to engage in a social life. Too much happens in chat rooms too quickly. Mods and admins already volunteer their time a lot as it is.
as an example to solve this problem of spam and swearing and bad questions there is a site called chris.pirillo.com i believe if that is not it Google chris pirillo but
ANYWAYS the reason i brought that up is in his live chat there is a computer supervisor called pixie and when someone does or says something stupid pixie picks the keywords or phrases up and then either replies to the question or warns them or boots them off the chat for 2 min. so we could hypothetically have something like that in chat to take the variable of live moderators and supervision away somewhat.
I think the best way for a system like this would make it where people could only talk with people on their friends list by request. But that'd take extra work..

Pretty much what runswithwands said. Spamming, getting around the censor and porn links caused it to be taken down. The only way AG would put up another if it was AG made and it's not at the top of their list.
Two things. First of all, this is a popular suggestion which means this will get locked. Second of all, the staff has said way too many times WE ARE NOT GOING TO GET THE CHAT BACK. There are some great suggestions for chat, but there's no point in saying them.

First of all, this thread has been around for a bit and was resurfaced.
Secondly, forum users have the right to make a suggestion and discuss it, regardless of whether or not the suggestion is feasible. This way, administrators and moderators know what people want, even if it will not be provided.
Users understand they are not getting the chat back, but let them talk about it. It's harmless, and you're not required to read about it.
