I basically follow the same strategy I used in Fujitsu Defender to get past the first three maps. Haven't tried the fourth.

Upgrade XP x5
Build a Machine Gun ~third to a half of the way down the road. (This time at the corner.)
Throw in a Sniper or two next to the Machine Gun for support.
Throw in a Cannon between the Machine Gun and the beginning, also preferably maximizing coverage. (This time in the middle of that top section.)
Upgrade Damage x5 or Cannon x5
Throw in a couple Frost Towers around the Cannon to increase its effect. Also around the Machine Gun and Snipers if necessary.
Save up for a Flame Tower not a Fire Tower and place it in an area where it has coverage of the road (or where it's needed most) AND requires less upgrading to cover the entire map.
Upgrade Skill x5 or Fire x5
Upgrade Fire Tower Range.

I usually start with a machinegun placed for optimum coverage, then put my first upgrade points into money. As soon as possible I add a frost tower covering roughly the same area. Next is a sniper tower a bit back to keep survivors of wave 4-5 from breaking through, maybe with a regular gun tower to back it up. After that I add range on a few towers (frost tower in particular really needs it), putting upgrade points into damage. The goal is to have the frost/cannon combo on the field by the time that nasty 40-critter wave comes around...if you can take that without serious losses, just keep adding cannons and frost towers for a massive splash damage crossfire. Upgrade order is (from the start):

Money
Damage
XP/Round
Cannon
XP/Kill
Reload
Range
Flame (at this point I start to get flame towers. Upgrade the range on them ASAP...about 2000$ will buy you a flame tower that can hit an immense area for huge damage and will level up quickly).

An important hint for the 50-wave levels is that if you don't have at least 10 lives left at the halfway point you might as well start over...the final wave is extremely hard to kill.

Thanks for the suggestions! Ive completed the third map its the fourth i havent been able to survive the massive waves of critters.
Putting points into money upgrades first and the frost towers---sounds like a good technique ima try that. xD

I beat every level loosely with the strategy I used and managed to not lose a life on the last wave. Won with 30 lives. A single silver star Flame Tower can wipe out anything with the support of well-placed Frost/Shock Towers. Here's a hint: Do not add any points into the reload upgrade until you upgrade the reload of a Flame Tower (and any other turrets you wish) to maximum.

You have my respect lol the 50 wave levels are tough. I got to level 20 of the first 50 wave level using the frost+canon towers. Never got enough money to make a flame tower but ive used them on previous levels and yeah they are very effective.

Gantic is right, that Flame Tower trick is THE killer combo for this game.

Properly done the reload goes down to 3. Considering that towers get exp per shot...well, that tower is going to climb levels at an insane rate. The final boss waves on levels 5 and 6 had no chance, I won with 47 lives remaining on 6 only because I got a little careless around wave 8.

You can basically use that strategy I posted up there by starting the machine gun inside the second corner.

The cannon either goes inside the first corner OR the necked region of the road (the skinny region between the start and end).

This should make good use of that mud puddle near the beginning of the road.
