lately ive been hearing a lot about this supposed boycott on BP. to sum it up, you clean up this spill, we buy your product. but wouldnt this simply be counterproductive.lesser sales=lessmoney= less cleanup?
do you know how many pension plans have money tied up in BP? If the company was every boycotted to the point of its demise then a lot of people would lose a lot of money and most of them would be innocent.
Avorne, people who work for companies that are being boycotted are still affected. A company of this size would do a great deal of damage to the economy if it fails. If we boycott BP, it is futile as it is going under anyway.
What do you mean it's going under? Where I am the BP is still regularly used, the way I see it instead of everybody telling them to do better, why don't people actually help them come up with solutions?
I agree with Kyou, instead of everybody forcing them to clean with boycotts, go do something yourself. I agree that if they were boycotted, it would be counter productive to the actual clean up.
I never liked BP anyways. I don't gas up there, neither does the rest of my family. I wouldn't boycott, I would clean up some on my own or with my own small organizatation. BP will stick around, they have probably already calculated how much loss this was and I'm sure that they will stay in bussiness. so. yeah.
Hey! Great idea to boycott that company!!! They made a mess of the ocean, and they should pay dearly for it, because it was probably entirely preventable were they to have the care to do so! I would hope someone will drive them to better their wells, or to NOT DO IT AGAIN!
Its not like BP is the only company that ignores violations and infractions. The actual explosion was never proven to be caused by a fault of BP's. And less sales won't affect BP all too much since they are still making a large profit, ignoring the money they have to pay off for the spill of course.
