I think that the spam on games is getting alittle to much and is annoying because i sometimes like to sift throguh comments to see what the games like and u guyses oppinions.
I would like to find a way to flag spam, and or get rid of putting comments and putting a random game rating for ap.
I used to play about 25 games per day. That means 175 games a week and about 350 games in two weeks. I do the same nowadays but, I don't rate or comment them. And, I think he should be given a warning before being banned if he hss to be.
Just because others are worse, doesn't mean bad isn't bad.
Blah, why even converse it. If you think he should be tell a mod, no user can prevent a ban. No point in deciding or discussing here because you have no power over it.
*add onto my previous note: no ap for rating games. I just looked through leaders of month and saw someone who joined in the 25th have 1650 games rated.
I don't understand how an anti-spam thread changed to a thread discussing whether to ban frylock or not. I got a lot of points when I joined. And, i had no idea about what gameplay, graphics etc. meant. So, I just posted "This is a good game " or "This is a bad game" on all games that I played. And, a month after stopping this, I got banned. What I want to say that mods did not stop me or tell me it was wrong when I began doig this. Instead, they banned me after I stopped doing this.
Uh, 3-4 posts and this is already revolved around FryLock?
Anyway, I guess we can forgive some people for spamming here. Seeing as this site attracts an unnerving amount of pre-pubescent children. Though, once they know what is spamming exactly, there will be no mercy.
One thing I have noticed is that if you expand the leaderboard you can see stats for the people who have gained the most AP for the last month, and by doing that you can see how many AP they got for each thing and if the numbers don't add up you know they are simply spamming for AP. In fact 2 of the top 3 admit on their comment boards they are spamming for AP.
Now I've been on AG almost nonstop for the past 3 weeks or so and I've gained 1500 AP between comments, ratings, and the forums, and the top guy has over 3x that. There is just no way he is doing it without spamming. Why can't these boards be monitored or something and AP revoked or temporary bans be issued?
The purpose of giving AP for ratings and comments is to encourage feedback that will help the developers improve the games and increase the quality on the site, and spamming for AP is simply counter productive to that and should be discouraged in the harshest manner possible.
Having an automated system isn't necessary right now. Yes, spammers are issued temp bans and have their caches destroyed. Though it seems that doesn't happen often. Either the mods are awfully quiet or they're awfully busy.
And yes, spamming is discouraged gravely over here. Anti-spamming is central to the beliefs of this community.
Well, that would get rid of spam for AP. Then we'd just have spam with extra p. (False acronym: Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages.)

The system isn't perfect - I'm guessing the ban you received was given out because a lot of such comments were found from you, and it appeared to be a tendency (and wasn't clear whether or not it was a continuing thing or a past thing). It's hard to calculate in the dates all the time.

Can't revoke AP without finding the spam and deleting it. Can't monitor everything all the time due to lack of manpower. Can't temp ban when we don't see it. If you see it, why don't you report it so we see it too?
Although I would like to point out that spammers do regularly get banned and their spam deleted. We're just not enough to catch everyone, and the ones that do get dealt with don't exactly go here to tell about it.

How 'bout 1 AP for rating? And maybe raise the Merit AP. If you do raise the merit AP you could also lower the comment AP, to encourage longer and more thoughtful comments.
I would agree with merits. I see people with them, but maybe only a couple. 3 or 4 merits at 25 AP is nothing really. I would say more like 100 or 250 AP for a merit, as they seem to be very rare and hard to get.

I just sifted through the comments of Wasteland defender... The first page had only 8 comments over the 7 words limit... I flagged the rest. Why can't we implement a comment blocker for less than 7 words?
