What if there was a game like Mirror's Edge, but it was a free roam MMO? Think about it, if building transitions were streamlined, it could work really well.
I've got 3 possible gameplay modes strait off the top of my head:
You could challenge each other to, idk, maybe way-point races created by each other, or just setting a spot in the city, and whomever is the most inventive to find a quicker path wins.
There could also be a sort of cops & robbers mode where the "robber" would try to get to a set point, a safe house I guess, in the city and the "cops" would have to try to take the "robber" down before they make it to the "safe house".
Then of course there could be the classic time trials, made by the devs.
Winning matches would earn you upgrade points to make your character's different movements faster, increase jump height and length, decrease momentum loss from climbing or sliding, etc. (Of course there would have to be a set limit for each attribute, otherwise it would end up like crackdown without explosions). There would also be a decent character customization system, you could unlock equipment as you win a certain amount of races.
What do you guys think? Could it work? What other ideas do you guys have for it?
I think it could work, but I suppose I could see it more as just a strait up multiplayer mode to the game, as opposed to a full fledged MMO. I suppose that the game modes would be like the "PVP" mode, and then on the side you could pick up quests or deliveries from NPC's and get gold and experience in return, as well as killing enemies, or just disarming them, would net you experience, and maybe more xp for more inventive methods of disarming?
I guess, now that I think about it, it sounds rather interesting.
