If you post an intresting reply on the forums(especially the World events forum) you only get only 1 armor point, but if you play a random game and just give a grade to the game you get 5 times more armor points, which is rather unfair. Also flaging spam and trolling should be encouraged. I think this calls for a change in the user interface.
That is why it also should be possible to disrespect posts for that reason
Yes, but that would just be a single sandbag against a flood unless you would resort to their levels. Also, people would just do that automatically to people they don't like, and I make it easy for others not to like me. :P
From what I can imagine, it would require some type of policing to actively manage any kind of fair system suggested here(both more AP for better comments and the respect system), and most people have lives and thus can't be bothered to spend as much time as it would likely require to make it effective.
thats an ok idea, but yea, too many people would make a bunch of alts.... dont look at me, i dont know wat your talking about.... >.> *whistles nonchalantly...* lolol
good idea, except the 3 characters max thing. thats kinda a low blow for me, i have 6 people in my house with profiles. no, that was a lie. i have 2. lol.
that would make TWICE AS BIG AND TWICE AS MUCH SPAM
Really it isn't the length of your posting, but the accuracy and relevance of the information given, and the quality of the delivery. However in order to balance the AP system I would like to see forum posts receiving more AP and perhaps even allowing for merits based on forum posts. However I know that creates a huge strain on the moderators as there are so many postings going on on the forums, and many conversations go so quickly. The only way to mitigate that would be to greatly increase the number of moderators on the site.
i beleive that but increasing th moderators is good and bad peps will think there are so many peps incharge and some can get away with unfairly bannign etc
We'll never know really cause if we really had many active mods we wouldn't have game spam.
You're saying that if you were an admin you would visit every game on AG and remove the spam, whilst there is like 100 spam posts every minute? Probally even more, judging at the "first post" whenever a new game gets accepted.
There are quite a few good ideas and which would easily be sabotaged by making multiple accounts to abuse them.
A solution is to implement IP bans. Helps with a lot of problems. People abusing referrals, people abusing AP, people abusing voting up, people ignoring bans by bypassing them etc. Though, you could bypass this by using a different computer or going around with a proxy, IP bans are on plenty of sites and they still do good to discouraged some people. Though I think I heard something about that not being a good thing. I dunno why.
And then you could increase policing. A good system involving the trustworthy users needs to be arranged. Manually reporting to a group of moderators who are busy people will eventually become more and more tedious. You can't rely on them to destroy the spam, only keep it in check.
As for the rep system, I'd like to see that in place. Hmm... Maybe a restriction on how often one can give rep and a prerequisite to being able to give rep.
Eh, I believe if we get too much of a problem here, we'll need a whistle system.
As for the like/dislike option, to make it so that a reply could be liked/disliked only by a group of people (like moderators but less powerful and more people) or only by users with 500 AP and more.

Too much of a problem with what, exactly?
Also, the thing with IP bans is something about legal issues of some sort the the devs and Dan don't want to deal with. It's not like IP bans are totally good solutions anyway.

I addressed this in the other thread, but AP requirement? Nooooooooooooooooooooo. No. Just no.
