There is a big hoopla going on here (Colorado) that has so many people on both ends of the spectrum. It is the discussion of having cyclist on the road verses the sidewalk. In Colorado, it is illegal to ride on the sidewalk unless it is a designated bicycle route. As well, the cars must give the cyclist three feet when they pass them. Most of the arguments are coming from those that are against cyclist claiming they do not obey the traffic laws or pay taxes for the roads. Being a cyclist myself, I often have these discussions (or just one liners) with passing cars. They shout at me âget on the sidewalk du-mas!â I shout back âget on a treadmill you pudgy doughnut!â This may not the best way to have a conversation, however, I think it gets the point across. Are there any other areas that have this problem? Is it really a problem?
Well, I walk everywhere, so I don't have much of a problem, but a few months back over here cyclists were getting hit by cars at least once, if not twice a week, one even while on the sidewalk.
Good thing it's legal for people to ride on the sidewalks here, or they would probably be all dead with how bad all of these tards drive.
I shout back "get on a treadmill you pudgy doughnut!"
Even more relevant here, in the freakin fattest city in the US...
Where I live, cycling to places I need to go are very far. Except for school, I always cycle to school. It's not illegal to cycle on the road, It's just highly dangerous, say you in front of a car and the car wants to pass you. You could get hit. End of post.
I'm gonna stay out of this thread, there's a bit of intelligent discussion but then there is morons like snipershot.
Nonetheless, where I live in Australia there is often a little side section of the road devoted to cyclists. When I'm in Sydney or Melbourne cyclists just weave through the traffic. And there is a few ridiculously dangerous cycling lanes in Canberra.
Honestly I don't like riding my bike in the street, people often seem like they are trying to hit me. Luckily except for when I'm downtown I can ride on the sidewalk.
The problem I have is walking down streets without sidewalks, or even a grassy patch next to the street to walk on. I even follow the laws for walking on streets, and one guy still tried to hit me and only stopped about 3 inches in front of me. HE then got out and told me he had the right away, ignoring the fact that I had it and the law was on my side.
i hate people like that. they either don't know the law, or know it and are just being a jerk to people for no reason. it happens on my street quite often
I am putting my bets on cars. You know, cycles can't stand even the lighest hit, while cars are pretty armored... I don't think cycles could win this battle.
