Uh... The human mind, why? Because it has created all other weapons in existence and is busy making more...

Sorry, but an extremely general OP gets an extremely general answer.

the M16A1. why? very diverse, lightweight, good stopping power, all around good gun, and i don't care what you say there is no better weapon than a gun.

The best weapon against an enemy is an other enemy.

The best weapon is the human mind. It enables us to create, utilize and destroy.

Uh, I forgot to notice pHacon's post. I slipped up.

The human mind not only makes weapons, it is a destructive and cunning thing itself. The thinking of one person can exert a powerful influence on things.

Actually it isn't very diverse, the stopping power leaves much to be desired, and it's a pain in the neck. Ask any infantryman that's actually been in combat. This is why we are constantly looking toward larger caliber weapons, such as the NATO .308 or the .30-06.

Really the best weapon depends on the situation, which is why there are so many variations in weapons available.

For long range I prefer my Remington .30-06, close range either my Remington 10ga pump or my Sig p229 chambered in .40S&W. Come this winter however I will be purchasing a new Kimber Compact CDPII which will be my new concealed carry weapon.

this is probably the coolest weapon ive ever seen but i think a good old S&W magnum .500 is also a devastating gun

Lol.

Honestly, that "weapon" would be too unwieldy and impossible to use effectively.

The knife at the bottom is even more pointless than the assault rifle under the M82, that thing would be too heavy to do anything with, let alone aim properly.

agreed. The Barrett is about all you would need imo. The only issue is the small magazine capacity and the fact that it's entirely unwieldy in close quarters situations.

I also guess reloading all those weapons and carrying ammunition for them would be troublesome.

Ah, why are we talking about an obviously retarded weapon?

Because it's so obviously retarded, talk comes more naturally towards it, it's so easy to talk about it's failures and shortcomings...

So, what now then? I think all that should have been said has been said already.

Uh...

Let's talk about something relating to destruction. I figure this thread is too general for some topics.

Who do you think is the best military commander of all time?

Well, with advances in technology I don't think you could say there was a best commander of all time, only that others rose to with what they had.

Any suggestions for how to group them? By general time period/weapons available and in widespread use/type of unit primarily used be good?
