I don't remember either, but violent videogames have been implicated in subsequent incidents.

For vidio games, I don't think they effect kids unless you are using military brutalization games or something...

I believe the kids that claim the video games are an attempt at a scapegoat, the kids who shoot up schools or something want to get less harsh treatment. Witch sounds better, " I shot up the school because I was angry" or "I shot up the school because of the video game"

The Virginia Tech Massacre, Seung-Hui Cho was mentally ill and had an anxiety disorder. He had had killed 32 students before killing himself. I doubt he got that from a video game.

Keeping in mind what I said earlier:

If a kid then claims to use a violent videogame as inspiration for doing a Columbine, I'd worry that something went wrong earlier up the line.

In the other example cited, I remember witness quotes expressing concern that the individual had "fallen through the gaps".

Honestly I don't understand parents who expose their kids to such things, when I was little my parents would send me out of the room if someone said so much as damn or hell on the TV. And here in the states I see parents teaching their kids how to curse, one parent actually gave a pack of cigarettes to his son, in public. It's ridiculous.

It's chaos in the name of freedom.

That sounds like a line out of a song.

I should write that song.

I think I'll write it over the backing track to that Every Day The Same Dream game.

Ah the juices of creativity flow.

I think that sounds like a song line to, you should add that in if it fits.

Let me know when you do it, Id love to hear the outcome (im being serious! and notice the when, not if)

Humans are superior to other known animals.

This has nothing to do with anything. The "monkey see monkey do" metaphor is just a means to explain something. Dont worry, Im calling you an ape because I suspect it might annoy you, not because I actually believe we are all poo flinging, bannana eating apes.

If a kid then claims to use a violent videogame as inspiration for doing a Columbine, I'd worry that something went wrong earlier up the line.

Sadly our western society is really looking for a quick cure and an easy scapegoat. Anything to look away from the darkside in our natures.
