Could you clarify the no "monarchy builds" rule? Do you mean you're not allowed to be the government monarchy? You have to be really specific in what is or what is not allowed otherwise this really is a mockery of a tournament.
I haven't been checking up on this thread lately. Can somebody list off any new changes, as well as the complete set of rules?
Anyways, I have some bad news. I have a conflict. The last 3 days of this month (meaning, up to July 31st), I won't be available.
This means that any matches held before August won't be recorded by me. Also, timezones may mean I won't get a chance to record any videos at all, so I'm terribly sorry if that's what happens. I'll definitely try getting the Finals match recorded (probably semi-finals, too), but try to time them during reasonable times (2-5 PM Central is best for me).

he is saying to not use monarchy builds... like u can use monarchy but u cant make only monarchy characters. You cant build one unit and say that u didnt build all monarchy either... a nonmonarchy build would be making a sphinx and some hovers tanks...the sphinx for air but not for both ground and air(which hes getting at)
I meant that you are not to be the monarchy government. That means don't constantly spam influence units. Sure a few are good for a surprise attack or a counter, but you are NOT allowed to be monarchy or use monarchy builds.
Don't worry Zeke50100. The group stage rounds aren't that important. In fact, you don't have to record the games. For the Finals ask both final competitors what time they will be on to battle. That's just if you want to record the game.
I will explain the rules and terms:
1) Don't cheat in anyway. 2) Be rank 6+ (Please confirm to me if your rank has been reseted for some reason) 3) Don't flame or bitch in anyway. 4) All tournament games are normal. 5) Do not use any monarchy builds. 6) Group stage rounds are 1 out of 1 game. 1 win= 1 point, 1 lose= 0 point. You are to play everyone in your group. Only 2 people from each group with the highest points will move on to the Quarter-Finals. 7) Quarter-Finals are 2 out of 3 games. 8) Semi-Finals are 3 out of 5 games. 9) Finals are 4 out of 7 games.

what if i make a monarchy unit as my first unit would that count and was monarchy but only used it as anti air
If you make an influence unit as your 1st then that might mean your monarchy. Just make sure that you aren't monarchy.
I think the no-monarchy build rule is sort of weird. It's a major part of the game (1/4th, to be exact), and many strategies utilize Monarchy units.
Every build has its counter, and every game forces players to do something different (or their opponent will counter the strategy)
Saying "No Monarchy" is like saying "No Capitalist Sniper Rushes." Barring a part of the game is never good. Take a look at StarCraft II: Even with the imbalances, tournaments are played as-is, with no restrictions.
Allowing every build is good because of 2 reasons:
1. People will see what builds are competetive at a tournament-level; it gives us a better view of the metagame, since it is indeed a metagame.
2. If any imbalances are suspected, they will be shown through the tournament results. It will broaden our view of the balance of the game (and, in fact, publicly reveal any holes in common strategies)
It's sort of like banning Metaknight from a Brawl tournament because he's "too good"; they don't do that, and people still win because they learn to be adaptive (although Monarchy isn't half as broken as Metaknight is)
Do you want to pwn people with a cheap forge/special operation build every single time? In fact, do you want to get pwned by it every single time? Even my capitalist build for 1vs1 has some weaknesses. This build has no weaknesses at all. That's why I'm banning it from the tournament.
Monarchy and Communist are broken.
Only monarchy is messed up. Communist seems fine to me.
It does have a weakness. It's called Forge Roman/Scout rush. Or the Capitalist Sniper Rush. Heck, Chronite rush. They're all viable because while it's fairly strong in mid-late game (although a core of Sakatas and basically any end-game unit is basically the same thing, if not more versatile), it relies on the enemy sitting back and not putting any pressure up, meaning you're free to save up resources for a higher-tech building and pump out a Mod Sakata (or a Saint, or whatever) earlier than you would be expected to.
It also relies on the opponent to forget to build Tier One units to counter the main Anti-Air (Sphinx). Nearly every competent build can prevent the opponent from obtaining a Sphinx/Saint + Mod Sakata combination from occuring in large numbers before the threat is imminent (Snipers say "hi".
I just think it's unreasonable to ban an entire part of the game because it could be more powerful. The biggest problem with Monarchy is not the power, I believe, but the ease in using it. With other factions, you have to think; however, with just a bit of thinking, you CAN and SHOULD shut down enough of the viable Monarchy builds to consider letting it in.
Not to mention, Forge+Spec Ops isn't the best Monarchy build >.>
I've been around for a while. Played a ton of games loooong before Monarchy came around. At first, I too thought it was too powerful; later, however, after seeing people lose as monarchy, I started noticing holes that were fairly difficult to patch in every single build.
I have not yet seen an unbeatable strategy. All builds have holes (whether they be unreliable early-game, or reliance on a timing push in mid-late game).
Post this unbeatable Forge/Spec Ops build, because I want to see what exactly it consists of.
Forge/special operations focuses mostly on Special forces (Snipers,S-marines,meditecs) and A-25 romans. Some missiles are to send the chronite tanks to hell. S-marines for anti-air units. A-25 romans for killing off the base. You might send off a few scouts in case you're low on energy/money and to kill off chronite tanks and romans.
The opponent's scouts, marines, snipers, groditz,phantoms, and sakata Mk-ll are proven to be useless. A-25 romans and chronite tanks seems to be the only things that work, but missiles tend to make a come-back. You won't get enough time to make a black queen. You won't get enough time to make a missile. If you do then you'll run low on resources taking forever to get it back. You might get enough phantoms for S-marines to become useless. The missile, however, will kill the phantom like it's nothing. The enemy will kill your decoy missile unit before making a missile. By that time it's too late to take down the army before getting missiled.
This build looks like a hack in 1vs1 (which it's not a hack, it's a cheap pro build), but trust me: This build is fucking unbeatable. Go 1vs1 against Pacmanateyou/G24x/Mazer. You'll see why it's so cheap yet it's so powerful.
