I would really love if AG would notify you (like FB - i.e. a box pops up on screen notifying you) if someone commented on a forum that you commented on. It is really annoying to have to stay on that page and keep refreshing to see if anyone responded. also, notifications if someone posts on your profile. Another thing: let someone respond to a comment, on their profile or on a forum post!
Depending on the thread you're in, it could look or feel like spamming yourself. This forum is not set up much like other forums. It's compact enough in the boards where browsing for the topics you're involved in would not be too much trouble.
However, I definitely see your point. Some forums are set up with requesting notifications to specific threads, and that would be wonderful to pick and choose what threads sent out notifications.
I'd like the option, or maybe, not have a notification the instant someone puts a message, but maybe if someone were to quote you? If you really wanted an answer to a desperate thread then surely you'd sit and refresh?

How would that be regulated and found? Users would have to manually enter usernames, which is helpful when others use multiple person quotes in posts, but that would require a program that searched posts for current registered users, yadda yadda... it could end up being a mess and not worthwhile.
Maybe the alert button like facebook has, so while it wouldn't pop on your screen, you would know if someone had replied to your post or commented on you profile etc. Optional of course.
