What did you want to be when you were growing up. Or for students what do you want to become I want to be a pilot either commercial or combat i still haven't decided.
I don't want a career. My wife is going to school to be a doctor so I'll be happy hanging out on the golf course Also it will leave me free to study basically anything I feel like learning about without the pressures of doing it for a living. I love to study, I just haven't really found anything I can see myself doing for the next 20 years or so. If anything I'll go back to school for some type of science, perhaps become a professor.
Sometimes your dream career doesn't turn out to be as great as you had dreamed. I wanted to be a musician, I succeeded. But it didn't turn out to be like I thought it would. I didn't do it for the money. Maybe that's why I did not like it. Once you become a professional, your love for music seems to subside. Then it becomes a job. Most people don't like there jobs. I quit playing. No more band. No more shows. No more screaming fans. No more fake friends. It's taken me a year to even pick up an instrument again. More to even walk buy a venue. I shoot pictures of high end cars for a local car lot now. The pay is average, the hours are easy, and the stress is very minimal.
I have a new dream job now. This job is to become self sustainable. To grow my own organic food and sell it at a local farmers market. Not looking to be rich and famous. Just make enough to enjoy life and know I work for no one but my self. And most importantly to have ultimate job satisfaction. Next year I moving to go pursue this dream.
I want to become a microbiologist, because I like cells. I also like doing things that can get me killed at any moment. Thus, studying extremely infectious diseases is my dream career. Maybe I'll go into the military with it, if they have any need.
Anyways, I'd like to start my own vaccine and pharmaceutical company, using bacteria and viruses to improve peoples lives. That's my dream career. Oh yes, and I'd run some genetics too, if I could get a geneticist working for me. Make some viruses that when implanted into a person, change their genes so eliminate genetic diseases.
That would be awesome, and if I got some fat juicy government contracts, I would also land myself set for life.
My dream career is to move to Japan and become an English teacher there. Of course this would involve learning Japanese, but I'm up to it. I've already learned a little and it's a long time before I need to have a real career.
The only other dream job I have is anthropologist. Particularly, I want to learn world cultures and stuff. For some reason, I can find every country's history amazing besides America's.
I want to own an auto repair shop (I would fix the stuff up too, not just run the business) but, I run into the same dilemma as pHacon, I like building (and fixing) things however, I also enjoy destroying them.
My Dream Career right now is the career i already have.
Bar & Restaurant owner.
I am going to be opening up a chain of Nightclubs, bars, music bars w/ music booths, 5 star cuisines. I am aiming at ending up buying a hotel over here and transforming it in to a Las vegas hotel. bringing America to europe.
Maybe I'll go into the military with it, if they have any need.
I would recommend that you approach a few recruiters from the different branches of the service. You can probably enlist to OCS where you get paid to get your degree, and they pay for that too. In return you serve 1 year in the service for each year you spent in school.
