Here's a suggestion.
I was just wondering, would it be possible to allow the use of accents in Ag 3.0.?
Whenever you try to write something in french you wind up with senseless gibberish because of the site's inaptitude at screening accents, it's very troublesome especially when people want to submit French work in the Maw.
Take my thread for example...Poor essay....

The issue has been brought up several times and the problem is that many alt characters are not supported by the current format. I have heard that this issue will be addressed with AG 3.0, but I personally do not know for sure if that is accurate. I would recommend that you speak to Carlie about it as she's the one most likely to know about it, and be able to pass it on to the developers of the site.

I remember having this conversation in another thread some time ago... the problem with allowing the 'other' format characters to be used, will result in people speaking their native language rather than speaking English... and that is something AG wants to avoid (if I recall correctly), they want to keep it an all-English gaming website!

I see your point. However, there are still issues with not allowing other characters (Pokémon, anyone?). Also, there are some words in the English language that do use accents (though I will admit they aren't ones you see everyday), such as outré. Co-operate used to be spelled coÃ&paraerate. Being able to support other symbols and accents would be a good move, despite the desire to maintain an English-only website. There are other ways of doing that, which are more effective and comprehensive than simply not supporting accents.

It would be a great help if accented letters didn't come out as complete gibberish - as has been pointed out, several words that are in English require accents to be grammatically correct - mainly because they're loanwords from other languages I will admit but it's still important...
