I heard that it has been officially announced that the chicken came before the egg. If so, how was the chicken born? I always thought that the egg came before the chicken...

And actually if you want to be scientific about it then the egg came first. Eggs were a method of protecting embryos long before chickens evolved.

What Walker said. This really isn't a question worth asking unless you specify that it's a chicken egg and not just any egg.

Considering locking this. >.>

Then if we specify whether the chicken egg or the chicken came first then we can easily say with confidence that the chicken came first. The reasoning for this is that the chicken evolved from a genetically different predecessor, so the first chicken would have been a genetic variation of this ancestor and would have been born to that species. Therefor the chicken would have come first.

Sorry I'm not a anal nazi grammar general. My previous comment is obviously so self explanatory that I thought I't didn't need an explanation but for you I will make a exception. The dinosaur clearly came before the chicken and It's egg.

The inside of an egg, is little more than an overgrown cell, so the question didn't even have the right to exist...

I find our British scientists very ammusing.

We spend thousands upon thousands of tax payers money to find out what came first the chicken or the egg? When the money could of gone to a better use, such as stabilizing our economy, or helping the homeless & the jobless out. Even putting it towards a medical charity fighting cancer, but now we put it towards a Chicken & an egg, when the only answer they got was that the chicken came first. They still do not know where it came from though. Anyone could of told them that.
