The extended-range electric vehicle is no longer just a rumor. We have put tremendous design and engineering resources in place to make this vehicle a reality.
The Concept Chevy Volt, with its revolutionary E-Flex Propulsion System will be different than any previous electric vehicle because it will use a lithium-ion battery with a variety of range-extending onboard power sources, including gas and, in some vehicles, E85 ethanol(1) to recharge the battery while driving.
When it comes to plugging in, the Volt will be designed to use a common 110â"volt household plug. For someone who drives less than 40 miles a day, Chevy Volt will use zero gasoline and produce zero emissions.(2) For longer trips, Chevy Volt's range-extending power source kicks in to recharge the lithium-ion battery pack as required. We expect a driving range of an estimated 640 miles.(3)
Why am I going to spent $10k more to buy something that is a piece of crap? I can buy a Tahoe for that same price and I'll live in an accident. I put my life far above the lives of others and the environment.
Because the Tahoe is going to be unavailable at some point in time and all you'll have left to buy, eventually, is either a crappy electric car you could crush like a matchbox, or a fourth-hand Tahoe priced at 3 times what it's worth run on petrol that costs 3 times your weekly salary every time you visit the pump.
In short, we'll let your poor attitude slide for now and rub it in your face later.
tennis, I have seen that car on the popular science issue a while ago, I believe it's 0-60 speed was 4 seconds (holy balls! thats faster than most gas cars!) I believe it ran on 60 or something laptop batteries.
I ahve heard aalot about the fisker karma as well. It is not my cup of tea looks wise but it is certainly a step in the right direction for electric cars away from thinhs like the g-wiz.
@DDX what is the name of that car in the pic. Its got a toyota badge but its name escapes me.
FT-HS Hybrid Sports Concept 0-60 in also 4 seconds price range is: 35,000 USD.

I thought the quote was hilarius describing the price of the car.
