I also have a topic, no arms or no legs, now i was wondering, being blind or being deaf?
I guess i would choose being deaf, because the world is too beautifull to miss, but the only thing that's not nice is that you probably also can't speak.. So what would you choose?
I'd choose deaf also. I'd be perfectly fine not being able to speak, as I rarely do anyways. Most of my communication is in writing already, so it probably wouldn't be too much of a leap.
Not being aware of things happening outside of my field of vision would be a little unnerving, though.
And missing all the music? How could someone live without music? Besides, being blind, you don't have to get a work for living, and my lazy me would be happy.

Missing music would be awful, but the world is so pretty!
And i think there are jobs where you can work when you are blind =P also the money you get from the government is just enough to live from.. You can't buy any extra stuff if you get what i mean
Deaf, definitely. I couldn't stand not being able to read and write. (In the traditional sense that is)
Yea i also think it's more worse not to be able to speak to people over the internet (it does not have to be with strangers, also with friends)
But, scientists are very close to create vision for blind people.
In movies you sometimes see people get an eye operation, and after that they can see.. is that really a movie thing, or is it true that they can do that?
Depends, there is nothing that can cure all out blindness. However there are conditions that can cause temporary blindness, and be treated with surgery. And last but not least, lasik which is used to fix the eyesight of those with glasses or contacts.
It's not an operation, no. It's an artificial eye. I can explain.
It's like a robot, the "eyes" are cameras and that camera is connected with a wire in to the eye nerve that goes to the brain. And then they insert a chip in the brain where the eye is controlled. Or so I remember.
Haha it would be funny robot eyes, also a bit scary though!

lol it doesn't work for anyone, i have to bad eyes to be fixed with that, i have to get a sort of operation to fix it =P don't know it precisely anymore
If you had to choose being deaf or blind forever without any possibilitie of a cure. Thats not as easy as losing limbs. Thats losing senses. I love my wife. I couldn't imagine not being able to see her smile. I suppose even though I love music so much. I would choose being deaf. You can sign and still talk to people. Being blind would be such a burden on you and the people around you.
No, it's not produced yet. And so far in the development, you can only see in pixels. You can only see the difference between light and dark. But it still helps allot and you can see like sidewalk edges and so.
They have tried this on, two or three people I think. And that was with only 16 pixels I think. But in the future it maybe will be with color and so on.
I know I saw the article a few months ago in time, but at this time it's more like a visor then an eye, and no surgery is required. It also doesn't work on those who are fully blind, just those who have lost their sight due to old age.
