Obviously, we get quite a few topics created throughout the Community page that have already been created quite recently.
Though people are advised to scan the pages to check, it's easy to miss those already posted and also, many people don't bother because they want to create their's ASAP to get some responses.
Would it be possible to create a search engine on each category on the Community page. This would allow people to type in key words or phrases to find if another thread with a similar title, hence a similar topic, exists.
Of course, you don't want every thread from the beginning of time with some similarity popping up, so the engine would only have to operate with a desiganted, but recent, period.
If a very similar thread does not appear within this time then it should be safe to create yours.
Of course, the time period and rules of posting similar threads would have to be agreed by the Administrators.
It's a good idea, although I don't usually create topics on forums I just like to join others that pop-up on the first page and seem interesting xP
Maybe a filter that disallows topic names if they have an identical name to an already existing topic, on top of the search bar, if that doesn't already exist I'm not sure?
