Don't animals relate to pitches rather than words? So they understand a pitch after a while and respond to it if they hear it enough, like calling a cat by its name.. or teaching a dog commands
This thread is really useles.. you could also say why do cats miauw, well because that's their way of communication! that's also why dogs bark and why people talk....
