Announcing Retired Wizard Defense!
8 july
http://www.herointeractive.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/retired_wizard_defense_banner.jpg
Retired Wizard Defense is a Hero Interactive Mini Arcade project developed by our interns Lisa and Brent! Small but fun, this little game features our wizard heroâs nap constantly under the threat of all kinds of horrible creatures who are apparently still bitter about past battles and such. To cut off the hordes of incoming goblins and other creatures, you the player can summon and drop all sorts of ridiculous objects on them: toilets, school buses, sharks⦠whatever.

Featuring stylish art and some fun characters and quirky objects, I think this game will be a fun distraction from work or between
classes. Expect it out this month!

Announcing Roaming Fortress!
july 21
http://www.herointeractive.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/rf_banner.jpg
Iâm very pleased to announce a new game under development: Roaming Fortress!

Developed in partnership with our friends (and fellow Michiganders) over at YETi CGI, Roaming Fortress will be one of our bigger titles- featuring epic battles between your giant upgradable fortress on the back of a massive creature against hordes of oncoming enemies. Not only can you defend your fortress with Spearmen, Archers, Catapults and more as you watch the gigantic battle unfold and your orders are carried out, but youâll be able to use your hero to fire arrows yourself into the fray and use special abilities. The game will also feature several locations to battle through and an array of really sweet enemies. Enemy units can even mount other units, for example you might come across a siege tower with a fire mage on top, pushed by a huge ogre- killing the ogre will leave the siege tower standing and mage still attacking you!

The game features some gorgeous 3d rendered art and it is really looking fantastic. We should have some screenshots in the next couple of months that I can throw up on here as well as some updated information about the game.

Expect some more kick-ass games as a result from our collaborating with YETi, they are putting out some amazing work and it means weâve got a lot of good stuff headed your way.

Announcing StormWinds: The Mary Reed Chronicles
part 1:november 23
http://www.herointeractive.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/sw_tmc-blog-banner.jpg
Hero Interactive is happy to announce our next upcoming title, StormWinds: The Mary Reed Chronicles! Set to be released (hopefully) soon after BTA in 2010, SW:MRC will be a hunt and click adventure game in the same vein as The Several Journeys of Reemus by talented developer Zeebarf. As a player, youâll follow the heroine Mary Reed and her steampunk robot sidekick âRustyâ as they begin their sky piracy career by hijacking a massive Demo airship (see the herointeractive.com main page under âSW: The Lost Campaignsâ to see the airship!) and rescuing Aglorian captives. Taking place 4 years after the events of StormWinds: The Lost Campaigns, the game will continue the story and should include a number of familiar elements (see Gyrocopter below). Needless to say, weâre very excited about this game!

More news as it comes out!

part 2: February 23
Weâve gone quite a while without any updates on StormWinds: The Mary Reed Chronicles, so I thought Iâd go ahead and give you some updated news on the game. For those of you who missed our initial announcement, SW:MRC will be a Point-and-Click game, NOT the strategy/shooter hybrid that the traditional StormWinds games are. Thereâs been a lot of confusion about that. Also, a lot of people have (falsely) assumed that all future games in the StormWinds series will be Point-and-Clicks and that weâll never do another standard SW game- Wrong! There is a lot of very cool and exciting stuff about the StormWinds world that you guys donât know about, and we wanted to do something different to show you more of the world. But you can be sure that there will be more classic StormWinds action at some point in the future, so rest easy.

As I said, StormWind:MRC is going to be a Point-and-Click game. You solve puzzles on the screen by clicking on objects in the correct order. Some puzzles will require a timing element to solve them. The game features some amazing artwork by our in-house artist Kristin Chapman, and she tells me all the artwork is nearly completed. We still have music, sound fx, programming, text boxes, and other story elements to integrate, so itâll be a little longer yet before the game is completed. I expect SW:MRC to come out after BTA.

As far as the story goes, the game will take place about 3-4 years after the events of StormWinds: The Lost Campaigns. At the end of SW:TLC the nation of Agloria had been destroyed by the massive armada of Demo. However, through your valiant leadership, you were able to buy time for Princess Anne to escape. Years later, the Demons still control the country and are frequently looting towns and capturing Aglorians as slaves. But hope still lives, a young woman by the name of Mary Reed leads a rebel movement to continue the epic battle against Demo to free her countrymen. In SW:MRC, youâll follow Mary and her robotic sidekick Rusty as they set out on their first legendary adventure- the hijacking and theft of a massive Demon airship to be used as their pirate flagship.

Remember the airship from SW:TLC that shot the massive lasers? Youâll be stealing that.

And now for some art:

Announcing Bubble Tanks 3!
march 28
http://www.herointeractive.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/titlebanner_bt3.jpg
Many of you have already heard us mention that a Bubble Tanks 3 is in the works, but weâve never officially announced it until now. Scheduled to be released in Fall 2010, Bubble Tanks 3 will continue the main line of Bubble Tanks games. I really wanted to announce this before the release of BTA for two reasons:

1) Thereâs a lot of confusion around Bubble Tanks Arenas - many people mistakenly think that BT Arenas IS Bubble Tanks 3⦠it is not. BT Arenas was always meant to be a branch off of the traditional Bubble Tanks fare⦠we tried to make that obvious with changing the theme to a red color. Bubble Tanks 3 is the next full game in the same style. In conclusion BTA is not BT3 and we want everyone to know that.

2) Some of you out there who were looking for a game just like BT2 may be a little disappointed. In BTA you can only fight in Arenas which limit where you can go and you canât run away. That wouldnât be so bad, but the game IS harder than the standard Bubble Tanks game. Also, BTA has a LOT of features which is a lot to take in and learn. Bubble Tanks 3 will return to the standard Bubble Tanks world, youâll be able to move anywhere freely.

Here is some additional information about Bubble Tanks 3 that we can share right now:

* It will be blue again. See the banner above.
* Whereas BTA doesnât really have any new weapons, Bubble Tanks 3 will have TONS of new weapons and parts for you to play with.
* Youâll still be able to design your own tank or use a pre-built tank if youâd like.
* BT3 will support cool new features such as Allies and many others.
* The enemies in BT3 will automatically download from our server, so youâll always see something new every time you play!

More news will come out in a few months. But rest assured for now that a Bubble Tanks 3 is in the works.

Announcing Pixel 2!
2 july
(no possible picture to show. it was in a mail)
Pixel 2 is in development! Although we don't have many details to share yet, gameplay will be spread out over many game modes adding a lot of re-playability. Additionally, our developers have completely rebuilt the engine from the ground up allowing for an unparalleled number of pixels and objects on the screen interacting with one another. Expect explosions, lots of them, later this Fall!

Announcing Shifty!
july 26
http://www.herointeractive.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/shiftybanner.png
Today weâre pleased to announce another title in joint production with YETi CGI- a wicked puzzle game called Shifty.

Players are given colored stones they need to shift around in order to group all matching colors together (adjacent, no diagonal). Your baby brother could do that, but throw in the fact that stones are limited to a handful of moves indicated above and the game gets a lot harder. Swap two stones, and the numbers for each go down by 1. Stones with 0 are un-movable and a show stopper.

Once you get all the colors grouped with matching colors (meaning all reds next to reds, and all blues next to blues) you win the level! Again, sounds simple, but as the game progresses it gets more and more challenging. Early boards will start out as 3Ã-3 squares with two colors, and will eventually grow to a mind melting 6Ã-6 and five colors.

The game will feature thirty levels and several unique backgrounds done by our own artist, KC. We are also planning on having a survival mode where the game generates random puzzles for you to solve. Beat each one in a matter of minutes to continue to the next and see how long you can last!

The game is looking great and although we enjoy the action and strategy genres, itâs a lot of fun getting back into the puzzle arena. Keep an eye out for this one in the late summer/early fall.
