Last.Fm keeps a tab of all the music you listen to. Its integrated with your Itunes or Windows Media player so it automatically updates your profile with what your listening to.
It then uses this information to create a chart of your most played artists/songs. It also recommends other artists that are similar to your favorites and even suggests other users who have the same taste as you.
The Scrobbler app can be used to automatically set up your profile with the music you already have in your Itunes. It also gives detailed summaries of the history of the artists your listening to.
Your profile can then be shared with other users, making it overall a great way to discover and share your music!
I prefer to only add people with a medium or higher compatibility though!.. so if any one adds me and I don't accept, that's why. I'm not being rude, I promise.

Today, I waited in an Apple store line for atleast 2 hours. When I got to the front I realized that it was the iMac purchasing line. All I wanted to do is charge my phone and look around. FML
