I've had my iPod Touch jailbroken for the past two years now. While it's technically illegal, Apple hasn't done anything to prosecute jailbreakers- although it does void your warranty.

I think Apple's reaction toward jailbreaking has been wrong. After you buy a device, you own it and should be able to do whatever you wish with it. A step in the right direction.

What do you guys think about this?

No its not. When you steal something, someone else loses it. Making copies of content is beneficial to all.

Why shouldn't I be able to enjoy something if it is at no cost to anyone?

Let him pick a career. Im not going to feel bad for someone who tries to get quick rich by creating intellectual property and expecting to sell each individual copy of that at full price.

ANALOGY TIME!!

Would it be right to own an Xbox 360, and get FREE games, and they make it legal?

Explain the purpose of copyright then.

"Apple's goal has always been to insure that our customers have a great experience with their iPhone, and we know that jailbreaking can severely degrade the experience," a company spokeswoman said in response to the Copyright Office ruling. "The vast majority of customers do not jailbreak their iPhones."

No really, do they not know that:
1. Jailbreaking is good for the customers experience.
2. The vast majority do jailbreak hem.

Hey guys - Just an update:

iOS 4 jailbreak is here!!

Before you do this I'd advise backup up your iPhone

Visit Jailbreakme.com on your iPhone and it will jailbreak it straight from your iPhones Safari browser!

If Cydia won't load after you've jailbroken try restarting your iPhone (it may take longer than usual or look slightly weird when restarting).

I think the spokeswoman wasn't quite honest here. It should be "Apple's goal has always been to make money, and jailbreaking reduces our profits, so we are going to make public comments that make it seem bad for your phone, even though we know it isn't and that many iphone users do it."
