The Strategy When you start out, aim for their heads to kill them faster. If you were successful, you should have suffered no damage. Split the hours in half for survivors and weapons. If you're damaged, spend as many hours needed for full repairs, then split the rest on weapons and survivors. I won using this technique. Survivors Remember this: More survivors means easier day hours. You can only have up to 7 survivors (including you). For example: You have suffered 50 damage and it's just you. You do 5% per hour so you would spend 10 hours just to repair it. If you had 4 survivors (including you), you can accomplish 20%ph, so only 3 hours are needed. Survivors also assist in combat. A survivor's normal weapon is either a pistol or magnum, but one survivor (#6) has a hunting rifle.
Weapons Every hour spent searching for weapons builds up on itself. The bar on the left is your weapon bar. Once it gets filled, you find a weapon. You also automatically find a weapon if you search even 1 hour if a zombie was holding one. I got the weapons in this approximate order: Pistol, magnum, G&HMP (or something like that), shotgun, chainsaw, sawed-off, hunting rifle, M-16, AK-47, and Barrett .50 cal. Even though the empty spots on the wall are filled up after the AK-47, continue searching for guns using all 12 hours (assuming you take no damage). It may take a few tries, but trust me, you can get it. My choice of weapons every time I found a weapon (main, secondary): Pistol,- Magnum,Pistol G&HMP,Magnum G&HMP,Shotgun " , " (after chainsaw) " , " (after sawed-off[the bullets curve downwards]) Hunting rifle,G&HMP M-16,Hunting rifle AK-47,M-14 Barrett .50 cal.,AK-47
Enemies Most enemies can be killed faster with shots to the head. From the beginning to the end, most enemies can be killed with a few headshots. there are a few exceptions though: Zombie dog: A zombie dog can be killed the same amount a bullets outright no matter where you shoot it. Biker: A biker has small helmet which may deflect a small percentage of bullets which are aimed towards its head. Aim for the legs, body, neck, and up to the middle face. SWAT trooper: SWAT troopers carry helmets and a face mask with also a bullet-resistant vest. SWAT's can be killed with a headshot, though their helmets block a moderate percentage of headshot bullets. Their body is nearly invincible to bullets. Aim for their legs, neck, or lower face. Soldier: These will prove to be the toughest enemy to kill; unless you know where to aim :P. Their helmet covers their full face and they carry bullet-proof vests. The only place where you can kill them is on the neck and the legs. Look for visual marks of hits. A blood splatter means its a hit. If you see a little dust cloud emerge from them, then the bullet was blocked or deflected.
If you follow these tips and you manage to survive to day 20, YOU WIN!!!!! Hope this helps, all! -ThePlanetTerra
I was able to beat this game by just spending almost all my hours into weapons, put some hours into barricades when needed, then after getting all the weapons, divide them up between barricades and survivors.
The game is very simple. I think The Last Stand 2 is more complex, with the fact that you must search individual buildings for weapons.
