Sonny and Veradux are camping at the foot of the mountains when in the middle of the night a mysterious biker girl turns up and attacks them, stealing the tape from Sonny and heading off towards a complex of buildings on the horizon.
They give chase and break into the buildings, finding out that it's actually an enormous prison. The guards attack Sonny and Veradux and won't listen to reason, so they're forced to fight. It becomes clear that something sinister is going on at the prison as they come across desperate prisoners trying to escape and twisted and warped 'experiments.' Eventually they defeat the prison's warden and the ZPCI show up yet again. It seems they were behind the prison's activities all along. After defeating the ZPCI, Sonny and Veradux finally catch up to the biker girl and demand she gives them back Sonny's tape. The biker girl, Felicity, tells them they don't know what they're getting involved in and she won't let them have the tape and attacks. Just before they can deal the finishing blow, Felicity escapes into a nearby car and tries to drive away, but Veradux fires off an electro shot that disables it's engines and they recover the tape, though Felicity manages to get away.
Sonny uses the car's tape player to find out what's on the tape, but instead of a message, or instructions, it's just a song. You are my sunshine... my only sunshine...
Frustrated and confused, Sonny continues his way on to Hew, arriving at a snowy pass where they are immediately attacked by a braindead zombie. After destroying it, they are set upon by two Human guerilla fighters, but just before the fight gets serious, one of them recognises that Sonny and Veradux aren't braindead and stops the fight, asking them to come with him to their base.
Sonny and Veradux go along with them and learn that there's a mysterious cult in the area causing trouble and zombies running rampant on the plains. They agree to help in exhange for passage and one of the guerrilas decides to go with them, Roald. Sonny asks Roald if he knows about the prison but Roald doesn't, then when Veradux mentions the ZPCI, Roald acts surprised and says; "The ZPCI? But they're the good guys!"
The three of them are confronted on the plains by an old fashioned knight who demands that if they wish to join his cult, they must prove their worth. Sonny, Veradux and Roald force him into submission and the Knight surrenders telling them they may join, but Sonny dismisses him. "I'd rather kill you."
They eventually come to the cult's headquarters, a dark and winding tower overlooking the plains and fight their way up to the top, where a familiar figure makes an appearance. "The Baron!" Exclaims Sonny, and once more they're forced to fight against the mysterious and scheming zombie. Once the cult's survivors see that they were being tricked, they agree to disband.
After this, the ZPCI make an appearance with the intent to eradicate all trace of zombies in the area, braindead or otherwise. Roald joins Sonny and Veradux and after a tough battle with the ZPCI captain Hunt, they escape the snowy plains onto a train heading towards Hew.
The train seems to have been taken over by some sort of dark circus troupe and Sonny is forced to fight against dark spirits, crazed hobos and eventually the instigator of it all, Clemons the Deceiver. After defeating Clemons, the train crashes into a cave filled with toxic fumes and strange, mutated creatures. Sonny, Veradux and Roald fight through the tunnel and as they are about to succumb to the fumes, some workers rush forward and save them, dragging them through the rest of the tunnel and up into the city of Hew!
As they're recovering, they hear the workers arguing about unfair taxes imposed by the Mayor of the city and plotting a rebellion to overthrow him. Just then, Felicity drops in with the body of one of the worker's brother, who seems to have been killed by the government. The workers take this as the final straw and rise up to overthrow the mayor and his regime. Felicity has unfinished business with the Mayor and asks Sonny if they can work together... for now.
Since he's seen the femme fatale zombie's battle prowess first hand, Sonny agrees and the four companions take advantage of the chaos gripping Hew to search for the Mayor and confront him over the ZPCI and the truth of what's going on in their world. Dedicated and increasingly desperate elite government soldiers stand in their way, but eventually they make it to the Mayor's office. The Mayor refuses to stand down and accuses them of being terrorists and they're forced to fight. It becomes apparent that the Mayor's government was being sponsered by the mysterious and shadowy ZPCI to suppress the workers and keep them under control.
Filled with more questions than answers, Sonny still has no idea who he is, what he is or why the ZPCI want to kill him.
In another dark mystery location, shadowed figures discuss the overthrow of the mayor and Hew's liberation. "We'll use the seed." Says one with a sinister smile.
Sonny 2, roughly speaking. That's my interpretation of it so don't take it as 100% accurate or true. And I know it's a long read, Sonny 2 has much more content than the 1st! Good job if you read it all. =P
