sorry if wrong section, move if it is >.<

i think it would be the flak 88. they were used to devastating effect in Africa and could be used for anti-air or anti-armor.originally intended for high-altitude bomber defense, the very high velocity shell allowed for high penetration to ground targets for a devastating effect.

The best overall weapons in ww2 wss the B-17 and B-24 bombers. WIthout these, the war would have been dragged out for months maybe even years. These greatly impacted both the Nazi's and the Japanese's natural resources, and caused many needed supplies to not reach the fronts.

I thing that it was the Russian T34 Tank. It was just unstoppable in the early years of the war because the Germans didn't have anything to take it out. Its slanted armor doubled its resistance to shells by just deflecting them. Heres a Pic: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cb/Russian_T-34_tank_in_Museo_Giron.jpg

B-17 Jet!!!

Umm... the B-17 was a propeller driven aircraft, not a jet.

As for the overall best weapon of WW2 there are many that are the best given their roles. To say one is best we have to observe it only in it's given function.

Best infantry weapons were the M-1 Garand, MP44, and the Panzerfaust.

Best armored vehicle would have been the T-34 main battle tank and the Tiger main battle tank.

Best fighter planes were the P-51, FW-190, and the Zero.

best machine gun: MG42

the american m60 is practically based directly off of it, it has 1200 rounds a minute, much faste rthan any other allied machine gun, and dint jam. how fast it went was its only downfall, as the barrel had to be switched out every 200 rounds or so to prevent overheating. nicknamed' hitler's buzzsaw', allied troops were even trained in how to identify its familiar roar.

the tompson wasnt so great. us soldiers ended up using the "spray and prey" tactic which ate up a lot of amo and didnt work too well for taking out the enemy

This is true to some extent, but much of that resulted from the weapon being used for other than it's intended purpose. It is a short/medium range small caliber weapon. Typically ideal for close quarters conflict, especially in clearing buildings or in enclosed spaces. As it is, it was an amazing weapon, very reliable and accurate to it's intended range.
