Not really my music either, depends on the group^^ there's one I like though.. correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Opeth is Death Metal. I like their album Damnation (the one with clean vocals). It's as nostalgic as most of their music, but soo calm.. (not typical for the genre, I admit). Concerning Deathmetal in general, I'm open mostly to Technical Death Metal and clean vocals. But it's not a genre I know very well.
Depends on what you're talking about. Metalcore and Deathcore is just a bunch of young people failing horribly at copying much better bands, or in some cases not copying them and just making terrible trailer-trash riffs (These may not be your opinions, just voicing mine). Despite my name, I'm more of a heavy metal fan Ex. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, etc. But concerning your post, I'll jam Cannibal Corpse etc. if I'm in the mood because it releases a lot of steam.
I don't listen to a lot of death metal bands, but the ones I listen to are Death, Massacre, Morbid Angel, Autopsy, Necrophagia, and Master. Basically old school death metal, I can't stand the modern stuff, and deathcore sucks, wannabe repetitive death metal for scenester kids who think their "brootal".
