For a long time I thought halo was the #1 thing keeping the xbox alive, that was the only reason why I bought my xbox instead of a PS3 enough said your thoughts......
No , It was also the other Exclusive games too.
Call Of Duty also helped a bit.
Xbox would continue to do great without Halo, but lose COD and that's it xD
Not that I played either but alot of people I know do... or did.
Xbox would not die if halo died, though it would dwindle in some profits. But there are other franchises that would keep the xbox system going strong. COD, assassins creed, mass affect, and many others.
Halo is just another source of revenue.
bungie died and xbox is still alive
I play them all on my PC. Better graphics, great controls, and more content. No need for an xbox for the exclusive titles, they are all on PC as well.
Call Of Duty also helped a bit.
Bungie left the Halo series behind and are taking a new role in game development for Xbox. They are not dead. Research next time fella.
As for Halo, no.
Halo is a huge profitable series, which will take many many years for it to die. Matter of fact, Bungie have released everything to do with Halo, however another company was in the early stages of considering the purchase of Halo, they could always bring back Master Chief and restart the whole Series.
Evidence: Google, use it.
@ Topic Question;
No xbox will not die, however it may not be the best selling console around, it is ahead of the PS3 by miles. It is the FIRST console the majority of games are made for, why?
Because it has the best graphics system around which does not cost a lot to manufacture for or test with.
PS3, They have the best Graphics cards implemented in to the machine, so much so it will cost almost triple to even consider making games for PS3 by itself, which is why God Of War is high up in the graphics ratings and is a best seller as well as a high intake of the green stuff.
that is why most game quality sucks transferring from Xbox to PS3, just look at HD youtube videos of PS3 & Xbox games.
Another factor, a lot of games are following the FPS style gameplay at the moment, or at least a 3rd person shooter. Xbox is the console for all games involving those genres because of the layout of the controllers you get away with a lot more and have better control, where as PS3 consists of racing games majority of the time.
After all this rambling on, Xbox has higher odds at staying alive WITHOUT Halo, where as most of my friends with PS3 only bought it for God of War, without that the PS3 has more potential of losing its overall value.
Microsoft + Sony = Epic Gaming Console without RROD.
/end
gotten a PS3 (it can play Blu-Ray, nuff said? :P )
Halo is the flaship game for xbox, why anyone would disgree i dont know. halo is the best exclusive for xbox, and Reach is going to make the xbox a lot more desireable

bungie died
Developer Lars Bakken at Bungie has affirmed that Halo: Reach really is the studio's last Halo effort, though "who knows" about the future?
Maybe "ten years down the line" they'll return to the IP they created. For right now, "this is it for us." Microsoft's 343 Industries will be taking over.
"As far as right now, currently, yes. This is our last Halo Bungie game," lead multiplayer designer Lars Bakken told Joystiq in an interview.
"Now in the future, who knows? You can never say never, because things change. maybe ten years down the line we decide to make another Halo game, but for right now, yes. This is it for us." Halo: Reach's multiplayer beta begins May 3rd for ODST owners.
It will be the end of era as Bungie introduced Halo: Combat Evolved all those years ago for the original Xbox, reigniting the first-person shooter community. As for what Bungie will move onto, not even they know exactly what lies in store for the studio.
Already 343 Industries, Microsoft Game Studios internal Halo team, are already hard at work on "a new game in the Halo universe" and expanded by 20 devs. Let's hope that 343 can keep the magic alive and the innovation that Bungie strives for each time.
