It's a great sport, and here in Rio it is becoming very famous.

You're right, there are some parks here and abandoned houses/buildings that are great places to do parkour.

In London there are some great well known spots where even some pros train. =)

Paris, London, many of the European and South American cities would have fantastic architecture for free-running.

In Australia we're not so lucky. There is very little in the way of accessible nooks and crannies and alleys, so the only people who actually get into them are:

a) reckless
b) trespassing
c) often drunk
d) end up horribly injured.

However I still find the way of parkour very handy in my daily life. With parkour there is no such thing as "getting lost" and "have to go around", more like "finding a quicker route" and "go straight over"!

I've heard of this kind of sport.
First time I saw it was on Top Gear when James may raced a car against two professional "freerunners". Really cool.

Though where I live, close to the capital, there are no good places for parkour. Though if you are lucky you'll find a really good place.

It's great for staying fit and I have plenty of time too learn.

Free running is so awesome and if I wasn't so self conscious of everyone watching I would do it more often. Wall running up 12 feet feels awesome. Can't do any aerial tricks though.

Get a training partner or a group, that way society's disapproval of your lack of respect for physical boundaries won't be singled out on you :P

LOL, you can get self-concious like if you're gonna try something hard.

An example for me is when i self taught myself wallflip. I found my way eventually though

The first time I found about freerunning was from the bonus features of "Mall cop". Had a whole little bit on it.

I'd love to get into it a bit. Seems like a lot of fun, except I'm too heavy and too slow.

I'll need to either strengthen all my muscles or drop a bit of weight.

Ghettos around here would be perfect for it. Gotta learn to run with a gun though . . . .

Though seriously, looks like quite a bit of fun.
