This thread is simple. I am going on an assumption I have tried very hard to base off as many people as possible.
The the assumption is complex, but here it goes...
If both your parents are Republicans, you are likely to be a Republican as well. However, if one of your parents is a Democrat, then it comes down to whether you are a girl or a guy and which of the parents is a Democrat. If you are a guy, and it is your dad who is a Republican and your mom is a Democrat, then you are more likely to be a Republican than a Democrat. However, if it is your dad who is the Democrat then you will be more inclined to be a Democrat. The opposite goes for if you are a girl. If your mom is a Republican, than you are more inclined to be a Republican than a Democrat and vicea-versa.
I am wondering if this is a good hypothesis, and to test it I am going to ask all of the people who read this to please put whether or not they lean to more of a Republican view or a Democratic view. Following which, could you please put which side of the Isle your parents are on.
I know that this may be a little controversial, but could you also please put whether or not your parents are still togheter or not? If you think that the last request is to personal, please omit it from your answer.
Lastly, here is a guide to go by when answering the aformentioned Hypothesis:
I am: Democratic/Republican My dad is: Democratic/Republican My mom is: Democratic/Republican My parents are: Together/Divorced
To any non-americans, I appologize for being biased towards America.
Me: rather right dad: right mother: goes after father, leans to right brother: left They are together. The left say that we should give anything to the arabs so they will reach peace with them, and the right say screw the lefts. Extreme right say shoot the arabs. Our famly doesn't see the point of the lefts. In our opinion, they are romantics.
I'm female: *(and perhaps the oldest member of AG), *have been registered and voted as both Republican and Democrat in past elections but remained a Republican since 1983-2009 *currently unaffiliated with either the Republican or Democratic parties, *consider myself a moderate, I disagree with radical libertarianism, but I do strongly see the need for a third party that speaks for the historically over taxed blue-collar workers.
My parents are both deceased but this data may be useful for your "hypothesis" since:
Father: when single was a Democrat Mother: when single was a Republican Father: became a Republican after marrying my mother, following WWII. Mother: remained a Republican and worked for Jim Holshouser before he was elected Governor.
My parents were married for 27 years before they divorced but they remained best friends until my mothers death in 3/90.
My other has influenced more of my choice in politics, because my dad rarely talks about anything political.
You know what would be interesting? If we posted our parents jobs (unless it's too personal) to see the relation between profession and political views.
I am: Liberal Independent My dad is: Democratic (Physicist) My mom is: Independent (Musician) My parents are: Together
I am: Libertarian (with some leanings to the right, but I hate republicans, so yeah) My mom is: Extremist republican My dad is: Centrist My parents are: Together
Running the assumption step dad counts as something.
I have virtually no influences from my parents. Why? They're crazy. My dad isn't really much for caring, but still calls himself centrist. My mom makes a habit of yelling at the TV every time a democrat talks. Seriously. Even conservatives.
Because my mom is crazy, I made a point of separating my political views from hers, and actually formulating my own ideas. Thus, me and her rarely see eye to eye.
As for my dad, he doesn't care for politics. He votes and all, just isn't fanatical.
I am: Moderate Democrat Dad: Moderate Democrat Mom: Moderate Republican(though for the most part hates politics) They are: Together The rest of my older relatives that I know of: Republican
Visiting with my Grandparents can get interesting at times I suppose.
i am: Not able to vote, but if i could i would first have to review the candidates. Mom: last election republican, but could vote either way DAD: last election democract and then republican. My parents are: divorced but unknowingly act close to the same on things
