They should be all destroyed, as all other rockets and guns. Of course, this will never happen since it is not realizable in our modern world. Ironically as long as all countries involved in a conflict all have nuclear weapons it acts as deterrent, thus as a sort of peace keeper. Mostly.
1.you can always lie about how many nukes you have... or just simply make a new one. it should be 'it had never been discovered'. 2. if this did happen, then come a war the evil people have them and everyone in their utopian illusion doesn't have any. who's to blame their? stupidity, that's what.
I'm afraid that at this point we're better keeping them. After all - it would be nearly impossible to dispose of such large amounts of nuclear waste without some of it falling into the hands of terrorist forces and being used in the production of so-called 'dirty bombs'.
I can now talk about the majesties of the Cooold Waaar. This is a real treat for me, I don't get to do this very often.
BUT ANYWAY: America was during a time of great unrest. The U.S. and the U.S.S.R. were at each other's throats. America nuked japan and Russia became paranoid, greatly distressed that the same fate might happen upon them as well. So they reacted by making a sh**-ton of nukes, until their funds were up (end of cold war). America and Russia were essentially staring each other down going "if you press the big red button I will too!". The cold war didn't technically lead to anything until the Cuban Missle Crisis, but I don't know much about that important time. Sadly. BUT ANYWAY, this was the "war" that had no deaths. This was a war in which no shot was fired. It is arguably the safest time in the U.S. Though people lived their lives in fear and hatred, American propoganda was flourishing. In WW2 we had great stuff like that one lady who egged the women of America to work in factories making tanks n' junk. We had Captain America, we had all sorts of iconic figures. In the cold war we had Rocky, Red Dawn, and so very much more. All of which were classics, by the way.
POINT BEING: Nukes actually make us safer by having a big stick to threat each other with. It's the ultimate fail safe, because pretty much no one is stupid enough to use them. Not anymore, at least.
Cuban Missle Crisis, but I don't know much about that important time. Sadly.
The Russians shipped missiles to cuba, which is only a few miles from American soil. Americans found out about it and threatened action on Cuba as well as Russia. Some politicians flexed their military muscles and the missiles were removed.
In this subject I am agreeing with MrWalker. There will always be people out there who want to be better than everyone else, want world domination, etc., and they will create bombs illegally. Therefore, if all of the obeying nations destroy and cancel their nuclear arms, they will be helpless and would be annihilated. There is a better chance of peace in the world if nations know that another world war would only bring destruction to everyone because of so much advancement in nuclear arms.
I do not believe in world peace. I believe that war will continue until the end of this world. I believe that there will always be evil and as long as good prevails over evil, the world will remain intact. If the good are rendered helpless, evil with dominate and therefore destroy the good in this world, and we would lapse into a realm of evil domination.
Although I believe good will prevail over evil for all time, I don't want evil to dominate at all, at any time, for any length of time.
Our goal shouldn't be to get rid of Nuclear weapons, because as stated numerous times that would be rather useless. Our goal should be to make Nuclear Weapons obsolete by greatly improving missile defense.
