I've played a quite a bit of the series, especially The Sims 3, and I liked that one more, because of all the extra things that were added, it made for a more diverse lifestle for your Sim(s).
I'm rather used to Sims 2, because I played it for about 5 years, compared to the others, which I only played for about 1 year each. I'm trying to play Sims 3 more, but it's only been out for about a year, so it's hard for me to be as experienced with that one as I am with v2.
Sims 3, because in other Sims Versions, you can watch your Sims only in your house, but in Sims 3, you can watch them doing their job, go outside in the park, go fishing, etc. I mean you see the whole city.
I skipped over Sims 2, so I can't voice my opinion on that, but I like Sims 3 the best by far. A lot more options, a lot more capability. And with the huge modding community, it just keeps growing. My only complaint would have been that you can't make your own towns, but thanks to the new World Creator, there goes that problem.
