Science fiction is pretty much limitless. However, "best" is an opinion, so it doesn't matter how many capabilities are reached in a film if you absolutely hated it when you watched it.

Saw is um... not, a Sci-fi... sorry to break it to you buddy.
Science fiction movies can be good, but it depends on how they are made. For example the sci-fi movies that broadcast on SyFy are mostly garbage, but there are some that are decent enough to be viewed. I just don't like the mediocre films where you can tell what's going to happen next, how the producers didn't think it thoroughly enough when making it, the generic blood and gore.
