Especially around the holidays, people are so scared of offending someone that they don't stand up to anything, and suddenly america, or anywhere else where this happens, is full of this crap. this Is taking away freedom of speech. What will you do about this? not shop at any stores that are PC? either way, do you agree that this is taking away our freedom?

Their is a difference between political correctness and downright cover-your-asses-incase-somebody-sues-us-ness (CYAISSU-ness). The idea of political correctness is good - it helps eliminate bias in the way groups of people are represented and makes everybody feel more equal. Stopping people referring to black people as 'goddamn negroes' is politically correct - stopping people using the word 'black' because it might offend someone is downright CYAISSU-ness.

Sorry - there not their. Also, I once came across a case of a school that prevented kids giving out christmas cards in case it offended someone of other religions - another example of CYAISSU-ness.

I agree with Avorne, lol = CYAISSU-ness! May I quote you on this, Avorne?

As an individual, you can say anything you wish, anywhere in the continental US you want. If, however, you represent a group of people, business, etc., you had better refer to CYAISSU-ness.

Yes, you may quote me on it. After a series of debates I was involved in back at my old school CYAISSU-ness is practically local lexicon.

Political correctness is when the media posts a story saying there's been a robbery in your neighborhood but they don't say the person is black. If the thief is a white guy, they say so. The OP is confusing to me as well but Avorne's CYAISSU-ness made me comment because it = Cover you @ss in-case someone sues us-ness because if you open your huge celebrity mouth, like Mel Gibson did about Gays, or Jews, etc. you might just have to fork over a truck load of money to avoid court.

I guess you could say you brought it apon yourself, your government has bread it into you.

If you mean to say that since Obama is in office, it's my fault even if I didn't vote for him, thanks. NOT. The terms government and breeding side-by-side in the same sentence don't apply to the USA. Perhaps you're thinking of pre cold war era USSR or China?

Where did common sense go? What about feelings and ideas, not rules and regulations.

I guess you could say you brought it apon yourself, your government has bread it into you.

Is that some kind of cooking joke, cos all I think about is bread now. I didnt vote because I didnt want any of the partys on offer to get into power... so where do I stand?

I hate political correctness. It's a total waste of time, and completely limits common courtesy. Apparently just shutting up is better than wishing somebody merry Christmas. Do I care if you're Muslim? No, I don't. Shut up and deal with it. I'm just wishing you well.

It's retarded. I'd be offended if someone didn't wish me merry Christmas just to cover their a**es. Am I Christian? Hell no. I hate the religion. Do I find it just effing common politeness? Hell. Effing. Yes.
