Hi people

I played through and completed ME2 many times.
I had some gripes and put them in a note pad.
Here is that notepad... here, for you... here.
Any comments or thoughts fully welcome as I would like to refine this and put it up on the official forums as a complaint.

Mass Effect 2 Probs + Bugs

Control-Cover system no better than ME1
Sometimes wont go into cover
comes out of cover especially on inside corners
No blindfire
Jumping over cover very problematic, wont always go
Run for 10 meters before getting tired ???

Allies- Get killed way to easy (on hardcore they should keep their heads down as much as I need to)

If I have Krogan, enemies should die up close, If I have Garrus, enemies should die far away with his sniper, otherwise there not much difference in squad members gun combat ability.

I would like to be able to order my allies to constantly
use attack powers.

Powers- Powers are not all equally useful. Barrier no good as takes 12 secs to recharge, if Im a biotic i cant use powers for cooldown duration and rely on guns... not why I went a biotic.

Glitches- Floating ammo, floating people, floating me, floating arms meant to be on banisters in cut scenes. To be expected a certain amount, but happens all the time.

Enemies shooting from cover THRU the cover, THRU your cover.

Problems respecing powers. Sometimes points disappear.

Combat- Im a soldier, if one tech engineer enemy walks up to me I should be able to beat him down, but there is NO close combat system (swinging your arm out repetedly doesnt count)

Try and use the vangard "charge" power and you die, especially on hardcore. Same thing as above, so there is no point in ever getting close to anyone, as you die.

Ammo system a pain, might be ok if you get x2 ammo carried,
but why should I be forced to play the hard and fast game of run up to them and... die. Because if you get in close you die... And die... and die...

Shotgun should have at least SOME distance in it. In ME1
if you became proficient in the shotgun it had a good range.

Cant really use powers on enemies unless all their defence biotic + shielding are taken down.

Is there a point in the combat drone, as neither the enemies
OR players/allies drone kills anyone. Slow moving brightly coloured orb of... usless light.

This is all amplified in Insanity difficulty.

General- Cant skip intros???

I agree. I really didn't like ME2. It's still a great game, but I especially found the fact that you have to be in cover before you can vault over it particularly annoying. At one point, I was in a passive area (no fighting), and I found myself having to wait for the character to finish his animation before I could hit A again to vault over it. That plus seemingly unresponsive controls made that an area that I should have been able to cover in 15 seconds last an extremely painful minute or so. I might be prejudiced here, as I put down the controller and walked away when I learned that you have ammo now. Grrrr.... All they really needed to do was fix the graphical problem and get a new story to reskin over ME.

Anyway, I guess I'll [/rant] here.

I didnt mind the ammo, but I dont see why you cant carry quite a lot. Running out of ammo became a problem on hardcore.

I think they really messed this game up. It was almost soooo good. And yet, really bad at the same time.

IMO they improved the shooting in this one, the only real problems come from glitches.

Yep. I can't remember exactly when, but I was facing a bunch of krogan enemies, and I had used up all my ammo for every weapon. Even on Normal, I had to try many times. I haven't played since I rescued Garrus, I think. What would be great for no. 3 is if you had the choice between whether you wanted a weapon that was thermal like the first game's, or ammo'd weapons. And bring the "get new stuff in inventory every kill" and the storage boxes back. Exploration was a huge part of ME, and I found about one storage box in the first two missions. I didn't beat Mass Effect yet, and it's sounding really enticing. Hmmmmmmmmmm...

I fully agree with the shooting. I loved the feel of new guns etc... but the problems in this game are waaaay to serious to just be glitches. In a main cutscene in the ship shepards hand hovers above a bannister... waaay above. This happens on all xboxs and regardles of gender or style of character. This is bad programming, not a glitch.

The krogans are hard as they should be, but like you say, you churn thru the ammo.

"tadaaaaaa.... battle hardened shepard is here to save the universe, now, where did I put my ammo pack, whoops I only brought a few clips of ultra dense ammo... dang"

ME1 is well worth the playthrough and on the whole I liked the story in ME2 and the action.... just too many problems to let this lie tho, especially coming from a great game like ME1.

Adding a couple of problems

1: No real use for squad positioning
2: If you put points into a tree, you are stuck with em (for squad mates and not Shepard)
3: Resource mining was a pain
4: Revenant Machine gun is ass and recoil (until you get enough resources for the upgrade /sadface)
5: The last boss was a giant terminator.
6: Most problems are solved by the Widow anti material rifle (no seriously, if you put Miranda in your squad after maxing out the Cerberus operative skill and going for inc weapon damage+ having out a ammo skill with a damage buff and being a infiltrator, you can one shot a krogan with full armor or atleast bring his health down to ~25%)

Haven't played ME1 so I can't compare the 2.
