I brought this new product up in a discussion a few weeks back and I realized what an amazing difference it could make in the world.

Watercone Description

So many uses, and so many ways it could change and save our world. I don't see any flaws in it, either.

If we could find a way to mass-purify water with these, we could harvest saltwater from the sea much more inexpensively and purify so we could use it in our water systems. It would most likely stop droughts, and we wouldn't have to conserve water.

What do you guys think of this product?

just found another problem with salt disposal

what if there are other things dissolved in the water other than salt this could contaminate the salt resulting in you can not use the salt only the water

What happens to the salt when you burn it?

It remains in the pan or whatever you are boiling the water in. Using a fire is the same in every way to the water cone, except it is faster and gives the benefit of the fire as well.

If the invention were implemented on a global or national scale, there would be too much salt to consume. Excess salt would be dumped back into the ocean. Possibly killing marine life with high salinity levels.

2 things

1. The salt could be rinsed back into the ocean, seeing as though your going to drink the water, and then pee it out, and will absorb into the earth, and eventually make it back. Its only like borrowing the water from the salt. Just temporarily seperating them.

2. a fire suggest you have something to boils the water in, are you suggesting that handing out metal pots, and firewood , would be cheaper than handing out this mostly recycled plastic apparatus?

p.s. how can i get one, i didn't see a link for buying one, i totally want to try one out.

The only problem is that the amount of salt being 'rinsed' back into the ocean in a small area is fatal to aquatic life. However, if the salt was to be filtered across a large area then this shouldn't matter. I doubt the various governments would want to waste the expense on shipping large amounts of useless salt across the ocean.

Why are people talking about putting the salt into the ocean or water. I think a poorer country could benefit doubly from this if it could be done in mass amounts. Think about it India, clean water AND selling natural sea salt to the western world, we gobble that crap up like chocolate (which is also something the poor nations sell us, cocoa beans)

There needs be no wastage. There needs be no salt farms. There needs be no unlean water. I needs be english lessons. Ug!
