It was a good movie, but nothing more. Sure it looked beautiful, but the storyline was too clichéd. I wouldn't say overrated as it is a pretty darn incredible movie, technically wise, however I don't think it will remain in people's minds as long as other great movies.

Overrated for sure.
Not a bad movie, but not as amazing as everybody makes it out to be.
Overused plot too, one outsider saves all.. get's a bit boring after a while.

good movie for entertainment and the visuals. if you want a story go see some other movie as this one has been done 5 times.

but i would also add that a lot of the characters are 1dimensional stereotypish roles. the asshole general and the greedy corporate guy who only cares about his money, for example.

another thing, jake never mentioned why they were there, the na'vi had little to no clue about why they were being killed and their trees cut down and stuff.

I really don't think it was overrated, simply because everyone says the same thing.

well this might be because i never saw Pocahontas or its sequel, but i thought it was epic... i usually don't REALLY like a movie, but Avatar would be the first one .

extremely overrated, but it is still one of my favs p to date. yea the plot has been over-overkilled, bu at least cameron added a new aspect to it :/ still think its awesome tho, but not as much as other avatar freaks out here, go google "avatar tattoo guy" hahaha
