I'm agreeing completely with XVERB. The extent of mysteriousness in the research they do is a few futuristic aeroplanes and probably weaponry. The majority of technologies at DARPA HQ are classified, just because Area 51 is in a desert it doesn't mean it's researching anything like aliens.

I think that they just do a bunch of different tests down there. Whether it be for new weapons or new technologies I don't know. But on the subject of aliens well maybe they found a crash-landed ship and are keeping all the alien tech. there. Idk...:/
oh man i dont know about this one. they keep the place so secret and i think if u get within a certain range with it you can be shot dead right there! i think it could be responsible for some of the freaky objects spotted in the skies though.
inside area 51 i reakon theres testing facilitys for aliens but logically think about it why would there road start so far from the front gate why isnt anybody allowed more than a few miles away from it yes they doalso test aircraft there but theres gotta be more too it.
