Here in Maryland, there was a recent case that a black guy shot and killed an illegal Mexican immigrant. He was a father of six children (also illegal) and was living with his wife and brother. The Baltimore Police Department is now saying that the immigrants need to come in and report any threats to their life. Most of all, they are saying that if they do come in the police will NOT deport them.
Are you asking if we think it's right the guy got shot and killed, or are you asking if we think it's right that his surviving family won't get deported if they turn themselves in?
Sorry for the unclear question. I'm asking if you think it is right that if illegal immigrants go up and report problems that they will not get deported.
I realize the post was unclear, the police are saying that ALL immigrants who report problems and threats against them will not be deported, not just the victim's family
what?? can you be charged for murder in america if you did not murder an american citizen? and seriously? ok im totally writin my congressman, them bastards have been floodin in, even here, in the mountains of oregon, i mean, i think the townsfolk just got used to the one black guy thats been here for 10 years. we walk around with rifles on our shoulders out here. its probably not ok to shoot them tho, unless in a situation of personal threats or impending physical harm, or if they were goin to hurt my family... here the local welfare office lady was tellin me that they have to give them foodstamps and cash assistance if they need it, immigrant or not, kinda rediculous to think i pay taxes to feed them, and buy them those stupid suv things on 'dubz'
Citizen or not, you should be able to feel safe and protected in any country, yes they should be able to tell on people that are giving them a hard time, people shouldnt exploit ileagle immigrants.
See I'm more along the lines of nevetsthereaper.We are dishing out money for these people, the least they can do is get legal passes. Of course they are going to get shot at, they are taking jobs away from other Americans. The reason the black guy shot him was because he lost his job to him. No doubt the employer could get away with paying the Mexican employee less money. I think we need better border control..... Like put the Marine Corps on the border kinda border control.
First of all, illegals should not get welfare. Second of all(and most relevant), they should not be deported by default, they should have a choice to either be put through some immigration system to legally become a citizen, or be deported.
rafternman: That would be a good idea, as long as the system was thoroughly enforced. I have a feeling it would be like one of those systems that does great for a while but than dies off a year or so after.
i likekt the idea of the usmc on the border, but don't we need them somewhere else?? besides that, its not the border now, theyre already in, making money, pouring it back into their economy. slowly draining us, like a tic.
i think they shouldn't have welfare but you should be able to get a passport and citizenship for free because my family in Mexico is poor and i know that they would love to come here but they can't afford it
besides immigrants make up most of the menial labor force so if you are illegal but have a job you should have welfare because it isn't fair that they work to better this country just to be killed off by things like that
Perhaps the deportation process should change. If they prove that they have a useful skill and are able to read and write English to a sufficient level then they can have citizenship but forfeit benefits for a period of 10 years.
It is better than all the other options. What else can they do, besides go to the police? If they bought guns or any other form of weapon than we would have armed illegal immigrants. They could move north, were there tend to be less of the low paying jobs no one likes. Finally, they could go back to Mexico, and there is a slim chance of that. It is probably for the best that a semi-law abiding citizen would go to the police, and that won't happen with the threat of deportation.
There is a difference between being an illegal immigrant and being a murder - one is significantly worse than the other and it doesn't take a genius (heck, it doesn't even take someone as dumb as a redneck) to figure out which it is.
true, murder is a place where we do not need this problem to go. but i still have to push 1 for english, and that drives me nuts. they need to have the ability to read, write, and speak english at least at a usable level. and i also like the idea of them forfeiting wlfare benefits for atleast 5 years after they get in. i mean there are enough freeloaders legally in this country. it must be nice not to have to spend cash on food.
