Programs

Adobe Flash CS3 - Newest version of Flash and the first to be published by Adobe. This is the ONLY program that Armor Games supports for games on the website, unless you have another way to create an .swf file.
Cost: $699 (30-Day Free Trial Available roduct=flash">HERE)

Game Maker 7 - An extremely popular program that's used by many indy developers to create games. It's extremely easy to use, and is great for those of you starting out.
Cost: Free!

This topic is a work in progress and will be edited to include more programs at a later date. If you want to see a program added, or need help with game development, please leave me a comment of my userpage. Thank you.

I've got a huge game which consists of 30 swf files one of them contains actionscript with loaders (graphics are in other files cause flash just crashes when I try to make my game in one file)
it works but only on my desktop..
I'm new to this but how can I upload those files..
should I upload graphic files somewhere else on some other server or how?

I believe you need to submit a whole .fla file. But I don't really know since I haven't submitted anything and not many people ask. I would ask moderator like corymn

I have been using Game Maker since version 5.1. It really is a fantastic platform and a great introduction into game development. The mac version wasn't quite up to snuff, but then again, it is still a young product.

Which means you will have to use Flash Professional. It is like $699 though.

1: Everyone starts out new. Just pick a program and try.
2: Game Maker shouldn't give a virus. Download it at the official website:
3: Put it in a hidden folder somewhere maybe...?

Not if you're a student, you could get it for much less.

I don't think there is a program that doesn't need downloading. Your best best is to look for certain features on the download that you don't want and cancel them.

Now what reason could you want for not downloading "maker"? As master said, you may want to buy a hard copy. lol

But really, I want to know why you don't want to download it.

You could try sploder, it some kind of game maker I happened to stumble upon one day. YOu could make games online. Or Unity, if you're a little bit serious. But that requires downloading too :P

If you just want to put it on your desk and look at it...
You're going to have to put the disc into your computer, then install it, which is pretty much "downloading" it.
If you already have Flash, and are having difficulty, I recommend trying Fixel. It's pretty much an aid to coders. http://flixel.org/ check it out!
