finally ive decided to make the OFFICIAL punk/ska topic.
there havnt been that many and im sure there are some hardcore fans on this site somewhere.
post bands youve seen, bands your going to see, bands you want to see, concert reviews, favorite bands, favorite songs, etc.
my favorite ska band is hands down streetlight manifesto. there sooo good lol jsut the way they write there lyrics is really poetic.
my favorite punk band would be either suicidal tendencies or the bouncing souls. i saw the bouncing souls abbout 2 years ago att warped tour and it was one of the best bands ive ever seen. i also saw NOFX and bad religeon that same year and this year i got to see anti-flag, alkaline trio, and real big fish which were also some of the best bands ive ever seen live.
pun and ska are my favorite type of music and put on THE BEST shows out of any other music to me
I was at a festival (punk/rock/metal) beginning of this year, and I saw the spanish ska band Ska-P for the first time. They were great, they have such a good presence on stage, probably one of the best live bands. Their songs contain mostly anti-___ lyrics, like antiracism, antifascism, antireligious, antiglobalization and so on. Another ska band I like is La Ruda, a french band, their lyrics are also almost poetic, but I think if you don't understand french you won't like them too much..
Concerning punk I'm not into hardcore, only bands I listen to are Die Toten Hosen and Die Aerzte, two german punk bands. The first have rather more 'drinking songs', or 'beerpunk', like a friend called them :P, the second has better lyrics, sometimes weird and senseless but that's what makes their charm^^.
Oh and I forgot Gogol Bordello, a Gypsy Punk band I also saw for the first time at that festival, they are real live-beasts, the ambience at their concert was overwhelming. And some of their lyrics really are beautiful. Take for example the song Wonderlust King.
